Senior Infrastructure Engineer (On-Premises)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled On-Prem Infrastructure Engineer to deliver technical support for our enterprise data center infrastructure and virtualization setups. This position integrates routine operational support with project execution, allowing you to engage in infrastructure upgrades, platform migrations, hardware refresh cycles, and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with infrastructure architects, project teams, storage experts, and application groups to ensure the security, reliability, and high performance of our IT infrastructure while facilitating enterprise-wide infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Administration

• Administer and provide support for VMware ESXi and Nutanix AHV virtualization environments.
• Oversee Dell VxRail hyperconverged infrastructure, including managing cluster health, firmware updates, and lifecycle management.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot both Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Provision and manage virtual machines, storage solutions, and virtual networking within the enterprise infrastructure.

Storage & Backup Administration

• Support enterprise storage systems, such as Huawei, Hitachi, and Dell storage platforms.
• Execute storage provisioning, replication, capacity monitoring, snapshot management, and performance enhancements.
• Administer enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including Dell PowerProtect, NetWorker, and Data Domain.
• Conduct backup validation, restoration tests, and disaster recovery assistance.

Project Delivery

• Engage in infrastructure implementation, technology refresh, migration, and decommissioning efforts.
• Assist with data center relocations, infrastructure consolidation, and platform upgrade initiatives.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, build guides, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate closely with project and application teams to ensure infrastructure readiness for deployments and production launches.

Incident & Operational Support

• Deliver Level 2 technical support for incidents related to infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot issues across servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and backup environments.
• Perform root cause analysis and escalate complex problems as necessary.
• Ensure that incidents and service requests are addressed within agreed-upon service levels.

Change & Continuous Improvement

• Facilitate infrastructure changes following established change management protocols.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and configuration records.
• Identify opportunities for automating operational tasks and enhancing infrastructure efficiency.
• Share technical expertise and mentor junior support engineers.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 to 6 years of experience in infrastructure support, systems administration, or operations within an enterprise data center.
• Hands-on experience with administration of:
• VMware ESXi
• Nutanix AHV
• Dell VxRail
• Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
• Linux (RHEL, CentOS, AlmaLinux or equivalent)
• Experience in supporting enterprise storage solutions like Huawei, Dell, or Hitachi.
• Proficient with Dell PowerProtect, Dell NetWorker, or Dell Data Domain backup solutions.
• Solid understanding of SAN/NAS technologies, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS/SMB, multipathing, and LUN management.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
• Experience with enterprise ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or similar tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills with the capability to work well within a team environment.
