At IBM Consulting, our culture thrives on curiosity and innovation, encouraging you to challenge conventional thinking, explore fresh ideas, and develop creative solutions that yield substantial results. We prioritize your professional growth and personal development while recognizing the distinct skills and experiences you bring to the table.

Your Role And Responsibilities

The Cloud Ops Transformation Lead is crucial in transitioning Cloud Operations from a reactive, incident-driven model to a proactive, automated, and AI-enhanced (AIOps) operating framework. Working closely with the Program Manager or Program Director, this position is responsible for steering the design and execution of transformation projects across multiple workstreams, with a focus on implementing observability, automation, and AIOps to drive measurable enhancements in service stability, scalability, and cost efficiency. This role is ideally suited for an experienced transformation leader or senior delivery professional who possesses strong program execution capabilities coupled with a deep operational insight and a commitment to fostering systemic change in intricate cloud settings.

Key Responsibilities

Transformation Strategy & Operating Model Evolution

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Operations transformation roadmap across the client's diverse environments, ensuring alignment with business and client goals.
  • Ensure that the transformation roadmap aligns with the client's enterprise architecture and strategic vision.
  • Facilitate the shift from reactive operations to proactive, predictive (AIOps-enabled) operations.
  • Identify and prioritize impactful use cases such as predictive alerting, event correlation, and automated remediation.
  • Monitor and measure maturity advancements related to observability, automation, and operational excellence.

AIOps & Observability Enablement

  • Integrate observability platforms (e.g., Dynatrace, Datadog) into real-time decision-making processes and predictive insights.
  • Lead the implementation of AIOps functionalities, including alert noise reduction, anomaly detection, and expedited root cause analysis.
  • Ensure that observability is incorporated into incident management, change processes, and capacity planning workflows.
  • Move away from passive monitoring practices, ensuring actionable insights are utilized to minimize incidents and enhance detection times.

Automation & Operational Efficiency

  • Advocate for an automation-first operational framework by identifying and eliminating manual processes.
  • Convert manual runbooks into automated workflows and self-healing systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to embed automation within operational and delivery pipelines.
  • Monitor and report on automation coverage and efficiency improvements across operations.

Day-to-Day Delivery Management

  • Supervise the execution of transformation projects within the operations, automation, and observability workstreams.
  • Facilitate planning sessions, progress evaluations, and cross-team collaboration meetings.
  • Identify systemic operational challenges early and address them at their root cause.
  • Ensure the consistent adoption of new processes, tools, and operating model adjustments across teams.

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Serve as a primary contact for client stakeholders regarding Cloud Ops transformation efforts.
  • Prepare documentation for steering committees, executive updates, and transformation assessments.
  • Translate technical advancements into business outcomes such as cost savings, stability, and scalability.
  • Manage client expectations regarding transformation timelines, investments, and value realization.

Programme Operations & Governance

  • Assist the Programme Manager in developing governance frameworks focused on transformation results and value realization.
  • Maintain integrated transformation plans, dependency maps, and progress dashboards across workstreams.
  • Ensure that reporting emphasizes outcome-based KPIs (e.g., incident reduction, MTTR improvement) rather than mere activity tracking.
  • Collaborate with workstream leads to maintain alignment on transformation milestones, risks, and deliverables.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Aid in budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight for transformation projects.
  • Synchronize cost optimization initiatives with enhancements in automation, efficiency, and operational maturity.
  • Assist in resource planning, onboarding, and capability development in line with transformation objectives.
  • Support the creation of business cases for investments in tools, subject matter experts, and automation initiatives.

Quality, Risk & Issue Management

  • Promote adherence to delivery frameworks, quality benchmarks, and regulatory standards.
  • Track risks, issues, and dependencies related to transformation efforts while ensuring mitigation strategies are executed.
  • Establish continuous improvement processes utilizing operational data and insights.
  • Concentrate quality measures on stability, predictability, and enhancements in operational performance.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Provide daily oversight to project managers, engineers, and workstream leads throughout transformation projects.
  • Develop capabilities in observability, automation, and AIOps practices within the team.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
  • Mentor and support the growth of team members transitioning to advanced operational positions.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in delivering IT, Cloud Operations, or transformation programs in a consulting or enterprise setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving operations transformation, automation, or large-scale improvement initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cloud Operations, incident management, and ITSM processes.
  • Hands-on or functional experience with observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk).
  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, scripting).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with program management software (e.g., Jira, MS Project, ADO, Smartsheet, Confluence).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container platforms, and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Due to security protocols, only Singapore Citizens will be considered.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

A successful Cloud Ops Transformation Lead is proactive in driving change, merging rigorous program execution with profound operational expertise. They do more than coordinate; they identify systemic challenges, tackle root causes, and achieve measurable improvements in operational efficiency.

They possess a proven history of reducing incidents, enhancing MTTR, and scaling automation efforts. They effectively translate observability and AIOps capabilities into tangible business advantages, ensuring that tools are utilized actively and not just passively.

They are adept at navigating complex environments, influencing stakeholders, and leading transformation initiatives. Their systems-thinking approach supports the shift from reactive operations to predictive, data-driven Cloud Operations.
