Transplant Coordinator

Overview

Become a vital part of a progressive team committed to advancing the Kidney Transplant Programme by delivering vital clinical and administrative assistance. This position plays an integral role in ensuring effective coordination and adherence to protocols within the transplant process.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess referrals from renal physicians concerning live and deceased donor transplants, both locally and internationally. Support potential donors and recipients throughout their kidney transplant experience, which includes providing counselling and performing necessary evaluations. Offer assistance to patients and families contemplating deceased donor kidney transplants. Cultivate strong partnerships with all stakeholders, including health authorities, to ensure compliance with organ donation and transplantation regulations. Regularly evaluate and document the appropriateness of patients on the Kidney Transplant Waiting List, managing schedules for lab tests and clinic assessments. Prepare patients identified for deceased donor kidney transplants and assess their readiness. Engage in ward rounds and clinic sessions to review patient progress and coordinate necessary investigations. Provide discharge education to newly transplanted patients and aid in the follow-up care for complex cases.

Qualifications

• A Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is preferred, including ICU or Operating Theatre exposure. At least 2 years of experience within a healthcare environment. Exhibits a mature and friendly demeanor. Demonstrates proactive initiative and the capacity to work independently under stress. Availability for on-call duties as needed. Essential proficiency in computer systems.
