Technical Delivery Manager, Metadata Management & Data Lineage

Key Responsibilities
As Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) for Data Governance initiatives, you will lead and ensure the successful implementation of key solutions. In this role, you will coordinate with cross-functional teams, capture and interpret business requirements, and ensure technical solutions align with data governance objectives. Key responsibilities include:

Project Leadership: Drive planning, execution, and delivery for Business Glossary, Metadata management, and Data lineage solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements Analysis: Partner with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, converting them into actionable project plans.

Tool Selection and Implementation: Manage the selection and implementation of a metadata management tool, ensuring it meets organizational needs and integrates effectively with existing systems. Conduct POCs involving new data technologies. Define and prioritize implementation scope to enable incremental coverage. Independently install, customize, and integrate software packages and programs. Maintain and recommend software improvements to support platform-centric management of software applications.

Lifecycle Management: Own the full lifecycle of metadata management and data lineage initiatives—from conception and design through implementation, maintenance, and optimization of end-to-end data lineage extraction. Provide remediation for broken data lineage across multiple technologies, products, and platforms. Review and deliver documents such as solution design and program specifications for target solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including data stewards, IT professionals, and business analysts, as well as infrastructure & information security teams—to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to metadata management and data lineage. Create frameworks and technical features that support end-to-end data lineage for Critical Data Elements.

Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to verify accuracy, consistency, performance, SLA monitoring, and completeness of metadata and data lineage information across SIT, UAT, and production environments.

Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors supplying metadata management solutions, overseeing their contributions to successful project implementation.

Project Management & Risk Management: Plan, execute, and deliver metadata management and data lineage projects within scope, on time, and within budget. Identify and mitigate risks associated with metadata management and data lineage projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Training and Documentation: Provide inputs for training programs and ensure documentation that improves understanding and adoption of metadata management and data lineage best practices across the organization.

Performance Monitoring: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the performance of metadata management and data lineage initiatives and make adjustments as needed to meet objectives.

Stakeholder Communication: Ensure transparent and effective communication with stakeholders by providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and resolutions. Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders in clear, simple terms.

Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies to strengthen Business Glossary, Metadata management, and Data lineage capabilities within the organization.

Job Requirements

• 8+ years of experience implementing data governance solutions, with a strong background deploying such solutions across both on-premise and cloud-based models.
• Metadata Management Tools: Proficiency in using metadata management tools such as Informatica IDMC, IBM Cloud Pak for Data or equivalent tools (Collibra, Alation, Solidatus)
• Data Lineage Tools: Experience with data lineage tools like Informatica IDMC, IBM Manta or similar solutions to establish and visualize end-to-end data flows. Identify and build both business and technical lineage, including strategies for fixing lineage breaks.
• Database Technologies: Strong working knowledge of various database technologies, including but not limited to Hadoop, Teradata, SAS, Oracle, MS SQL, Postgres, and Cassandra DB.
• ETL/ELT Tools: Expertise in ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, and other data integration platforms to understand and document transformation logic.
• Scripting and Programming: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Stored Procedures, Bteq scripts, Spart ETL, Python) and programming languages to support metadata extraction and manipulation.
• Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services relevant to metadata management and data governance. Strong background addressing security considerations for cloud-based implementations is crucial, demonstrating the ability to design and implement secure solutions aligned with industry standards.
• On-Premise Container Solutions: Expertise with Red Hat Open Container Platform, demonstrating ability to handle complexities involved in deploying, managing, and optimizing applications in this environment. Integrate multiple components seamlessly and ensure cohesive, efficient operation within the OpenShift cluster.
• Visualization Tools: Experience with data visualization tools such as Qlik, Microsoft Power BI, and Tableau to create clear representations of metadata and data lineage.
• Knowledge in Data modelling, working with calculations, leveraging the Set Analysis
• Experience implementing RBAC policies for various user groups such as Data Owners, stewards, consumers/stakeholders etc within the metadata management tool
• Implementation of out-of-the-box capabilities as well as custom workflows, user personas, and custom reports/dashboards within the metadata management tool

Functional Skills

• Business Glossary Management: Strong understanding of business glossary concepts and the ability to work with business stakeholders to define business terms and their relationships, and manage them effectively.
• Data Governance Frameworks: Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices, including BCBS239, with the ability to implement governance policies for metadata and data lineage.
• Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of regulatory requirements related to data management, ensuring compliance in metadata and data lineage implementations.
• Should have worked in large scale data warehouse & on-premise Power BI, Qlik based visualization

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline

• Certification from leading data governance product providers (Informatica, IBM, Alation, Solidatus, Collibra etc.)
