Systems Deployment Engineer

Job Overview

In the role of Systems Deployment Engineer, you will oversee the installation, deployment, and proof of concept phases of a commercial product. Your primary focus will be to implement innovative strategies that enhance the operation and support of infrastructure, aiming for optimal results.

Your responsibilities will include managing and controlling access to systems, as well as diagnosing technical issues that encompass a variety of challenges related to infrastructure, software, networking, system administration, and documentation. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a secure, stable, and reliable operations center while championing the needs of our customers and operators. Moreover, you will collaborate with Operations, the Program Management Office, and Engineering teams to design, deploy, and manage enterprise solutions effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy and configure air-gapped cloud solutions, including Google Distributed Cloud (GDC).
• Install, configure, and manage a range of technologies such as network switches, firewalls, block storage, object storage, servers, and hardware security modules.
• Set up and maintain the Operations Center (OC) IT infrastructure, covering local workstations and IT equipment necessary for managing air-gapped cloud solutions.
• Diagnose issues and collaborate with engineering teams on challenges related to infrastructure or software during the deployment of air-gapped cloud solutions, working closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to implement complex enterprise solutions.
• Enhance deployment and management processes for air-gapped cloud solutions through collaboration with external stakeholders, including engineering teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related IT field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with Linux and operating systems technologies, architecture, and infrastructure in computing, with a focus on supporting, developing, and maintaining cloud solutions.
• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing enterprise solutions.
• Familiarity with managing hosted services/SaaS and proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages such as Java, C, C++, .NET, Go, Python, shell, Perl, or JavaScript.
• Experience in managing Kubernetes extensibility with Custom Resources and Custom Controllers.
• Solid understanding of network switching, VLAN, subnetting, IP addressing, routing, and network troubleshooting.
• Possession of Singapore Government CAT 2A or higher security clearance (Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident).

Preferred Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of enterprise-grade operating systems, including Linux/Unix/WSL, Kubernetes, and network administration.
• Comprehension of virtualization within Kubernetes, service mesh concepts, and public key infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Cisco switches, VxLAN for network overlay, VRF, and various routing protocols.
• Experience troubleshooting and supporting large-scale applications, including web services, data storage, databases, and high-performance computing on Linux/Unix or Windows operating systems.
• Background in data center operations.
