Senior Researcher - Data Science & AI
We are seeking a Senior Researcher to lead early-stage Data Science and AI research at TRL 1-3, collaborating closely with stakeholders in the Homeland Security sector.
Key Responsibilities
Formulate research inquiries, hypotheses, methodologies, and strategic research paths.
Analyze and interpret academic research papers, pinpointing gaps and suggesting new research avenues.
Prepare research proposals and execute experiments to test and validate nascent concepts.
Handle datasets that may be limited, incomplete, or initially unavailable.
Regularly collaborate with stakeholders to gain context, refine assumptions, and enhance data integrity.
Offer technical guidance and mentor fellow team members.
Progress toward future Principal Investigator roles.
Qualifications
Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience in early-stage research, ideally at TRL 1-3.
Experience as a Research Scientist, Research Fellow, Research Engineer, University Researcher, or a comparable role.
Demonstrated capability in reviewing research literature and identifying gaps in existing research.
Proficient in defining research challenges, designing experimental frameworks, and validating research hypotheses.
Strong foundation in Data Science, AI, ML principles, and proficiency in Python.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, work with limited data, and engage effectively in stakeholder-facing scenarios.
