HSE Officer

Overview

We are looking for a skilled HSE Officer to manage, implement, and enhance Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices within our Johor Bahru operations. The ideal candidate will serve as the expert on HSE compliance, ensuring complete adherence to Malaysia's DOSH regulations while cultivating a robust safety culture throughout the organization.

Your role

• Direct and oversee all HSE policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) standards.
• Act as the site Safety & Health Officer (SHO) and the main liaison with DOSH and other regulatory entities.
• Maintain full compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 1994) and all relevant subsidiary regulations.
• Design, execute, sustain, and continuously refine the HSE Management System, including necessary documentation, records, and reporting.
• Conduct and supervise risk assessments, hazard identification, incident investigations, and implement corrective/preventive measures.
• Lead internal and external audits, inspections, and visits from regulatory bodies.
• Organize and deliver HSE training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
• Manage emergency preparedness and response planning, conduct drills, and spearhead initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Prepare and submit required statutory reports, HSE performance summaries, and management reviews.
• Facilitate effective communication with internal stakeholders (management, employees, contractors) and external parties (DOSH, clients, authorities).
• Promote a proactive safety culture and offer leadership and mentorship to site HSE teams.

• Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and persuade both internal and external stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in drafting HSE reports, procedures, and regulatory documentation.
• Deep knowledge of hazard analysis, risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
• Capable of working independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Meticulous attention to detail paired with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
  
  

Preferred (Added Advantage)

• Experience in large-scale projects or multinational settings.
• Familiarity with ISO standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Experience in managing contractors and multiple stakeholders on-site.
