Senior Database Administrator

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Database Administrator seeking a stable role with potential for growth and a flexible work environment as part of the Database Services team. The selected candidate will be tasked with creating, supporting, and maintaining PostgreSQL and various other databases that fall under the purview of the Database Services team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting up and configuring Mongo RS and sharding
• Establishing and configuring PostgreSQL database clusters and replication
• Optimizing configurations for MongoDB and servers to enhance performance
• Configuring Barman servers for new database clusters
• Installing PostGIS, pgAudit, and other necessary extensions
• Ensuring the monitoring and uptime of all production databases
• Estimating database capacities and developing methods for tracking database capacity and utilization
• Leading initiatives to create and enhance procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention to minimize downtime
• Managing regular backups and recovery processes for databases
• Conducting routine maintenance on databases (e.g., Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving)
• Designing and implementing disaster recovery plans and high availability solutions and recommendations
• Collaborating closely with the application team to assess upcoming changes in builds, patches, or hotfixes, performing impact analyses, and optimizing queries as needed

Qualifications required:

• A Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in a Database Administrator role, either in support or project settings
• Solid DBA experience and expertise in PostgreSQL
• Proficient knowledge in Docker, Replication, Sharding, and Ops Manager
• Experience with upgrading MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL databases
• Familiarity with managing PostgreSQL in cloud environments (PAAS/IAAS) is a plus
• Experience in managing PostgreSQL using Docker/Containers is advantageous
• Understanding of enterprise application technology architecture, including components, databases, networking, and infrastructure as code
• Ability to write efficient queries
• Strong scripting skills in Unix/Shell and Python
• Technical expertise in both Linux and Windows platforms
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience in configuring LDAPs for authentication
• Ability to work well under pressure with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven experience in proposing improvement ideas or engaging in continuous improvement initiatives
• Able to collaborate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Dedicated to learning new technologies and applying them effectively in daily tasks
• Willingness to provide support after regular working hours, including weekends and public holidays in Wilayah Persekutuan as needed
• Work shifts will align with the Pacific region, requiring business support hours to start at 7 am KL
• Must be able to commit to a hybrid working arrangement, with at least 3 days in the office
• Candidates should have reliable transportation for commuting to the office during the required business support hours
