- Identify optimal battery solutions and validation approaches to achieve superior performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- Lead the implementation of industry-standard battery verification and validation processes, including EVT (Engineering Validation Test), DVT (Design Validation Test), and PVT (Production Validation Test).
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and mechanical teams to facilitate the smooth integration of batteries into products.
- Engage with battery suppliers and equipment manufacturers to develop protocols, troubleshoot issues, and promote innovation.
- Supervise battery laboratory development, ensuring safety compliance and streamlining testing workflows.
- Guarantee adherence to industry standards (e.g., IEC 62133, UL 1642) and Dyson's internal safety requirements.
- Evaluate test data, compile technical reports for senior stakeholders, suggest improvements, and mentor junior engineers.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses a blend of technical acumen, leadership capabilities, and an in-depth understanding of product development. You thrive in collaborative environments with cross-functional teams and suppliers while fostering innovation in battery systems to meet elevated performance and quality expectations.
- BEng, MSc, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field. Specialization in battery technology, electrochemistry, or energy systems is highly preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in battery design, testing, and validation, with a solid grasp of cell chemistry and system integration.
- Proven experience in collaborating with suppliers on battery development and testing initiatives.
- Expertise in establishing and managing battery test laboratories, including equipment commissioning and workflow optimization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of lithium-ion battery chemistry, electrolyte behavior, failure mechanisms, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with industry certifications (e.g., IEC 62133, UL 1642) and battery qualification methodologies.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, SPICE) for modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills to convey clear insights and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with product teams to align battery technologies with business objectives.
- A history of leading complex technical projects in fast-paced settings.
- Understanding of energy efficiency optimization in consumer electronics.
- Experience in thermal management and advanced materials characterization is a plus.
