Position Overview

• Providing expert advice on Group Treasury & Market (GTM) legal documentation and addressing pertinent issues effectively.
• Delivering legal opinions on technical matters that have legal implications.
• Assisting front office teams, support units, and various stakeholders in addressing documentation-related challenges while offering appropriate legal counsel.
• Reviewing and updating documentation templates in accordance with the Bank's policies and applicable legal and regulatory standards.
• Negotiating standard market documents and evaluating other contracts related to GTM products.
• Conducting training sessions on documentation as needed by stakeholders.
• Building strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensuring prompt turnaround times for documentation.
• Maintaining a high standard of quality in the documentation and legal advice provided.
• Engaging and managing the appointment of external counsel to address legal matters as needed.
• Overseeing administrative aspects related to GTM legal documentation and safeguarding original documents.
• Providing legal insights on policies concerning GTM products.
• Promoting personal and staff development through relevant training and courses.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 – 15 years of experience in legal practice or within a banking institution with a focus on Treasury documentation.
• Solid understanding of Treasury Products including FX, Equity, Repos, and Structured Products.
• Experience with Islamic Treasury documentation is essential.
• Familiarity with ISDA-related materials and ISDA templates is required.
• Admission to the Malaysian BAR is mandatory.
