Senior Product Performance Engineer

About the Position

The Technology Development division is composed of a variety of innovative and highly skilled engineering professionals. Our team excels in their respective areas, pushing the boundaries of what's achievable with Dyson products. This division includes specialized teams across multiple disciplines, including Product Performance, Acoustics, Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, and Materials. This position is part of the Product Performance team, which focuses on the technical evaluation of hair appliance performance, specifically in measuring and enhancing the efficiency of hair drying and styling.

• Determine critical performance influencers, design and conduct experiments, and utilize modeling tools (such as scripting, Excel, Minitab) to create, evaluate, and refine predictive models.
• Create effective testing strategies and methodologies that simulate real user experiences while ensuring that performance objectives are achieved.
• Analyze experimental and analytical results to provide technically sound recommendations, including suggestions for design improvements and optimizations.
• Articulate clear problem statements, assess and communicate risks, and deliver balanced advice on intricate system interactions.
• Work collaboratively within project teams, effectively share findings with stakeholders, and maintain comprehensive documentation for future use.
• Mentor and guide junior team members while promoting a strong work ethic and analytical mindset.
• Identify opportunities for improvement by questioning existing processes, developing innovative tools or methodologies, and driving enhancements in performance and reliability.

About You

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in product design and development (less experience may be considered for outstanding candidates).
• A robust understanding of engineering principles, measurement techniques, and statistical analysis; proficiency in tools such as Minitab, MATLAB, Excel, or similar software.
• Experience with CAD/CAE applications and knowledge of statistical modeling (e.g., multiple regression) is preferred.
• Proven strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Capable of providing and receiving constructive feedback, as well as mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Adept at clearly conveying concepts to diverse audiences and effectively persuading and influencing team members.
• Proficient in collaborating and managing relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders.
