Senior Engineer (Electrical Designer)

Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer will spearhead the design and implementation of electrical engineering solutions for projects within the Middle East (ME) business sector. This position encompasses electrical system design, multidisciplinary collaboration, technical assessments, and ensuring adherence to relevant standards, quality expectations, and project timelines. The selected candidate will also provide technical support to project teams through mentoring and facilitating the successful execution of engineering projects.

Your role

• 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience is mandatory.
• Utilizes data, tools, and technology to enhance project value.
• Receives on-the-job technical training and executes tasks with minimal oversight.
• Challenges and questions standard work practices.
• Capable of producing high-quality technical reports with both technical and presentation excellence.
• Exhibits knowledge of international design codes and is emerging as, or recognized as, a subject matter expert in one or more areas of expertise.
• Develops a broad technical skill set and can assess the work of project team members, with an emerging capability to evaluate simpler single-discipline projects (Green Technical Risk Category).
• Demonstrates a service-oriented approach.
• Conducts market research and contributes to market intelligence efforts.
• Leads by example and provides support to junior team members on CDM, Safe by Design principles, and AtkinsRéalis SMS procedures.
• Engages in updating the PAT Tool for project applications.
• Competently delivers work independently and integrates effectively within larger project teams.
• Champions the use of digital technologies in projects, serving as an Information Manager on medium-scale projects or Design Manager on smaller initiatives.
• Capable of independently generating effort estimates for tasks within their area of expertise or for single-discipline projects.
• Applies professional knowledge and sound judgment to single-discipline projects within their specialization.
• Adapts plans and actions as needed in response to changing scenarios.
• Familiar with the commercial aspects of project management.
• Able to present and advocate for their work and team outputs to clients through meetings and presentations.
• Shares insights and best practices while proactively leading knowledge-sharing sessions within the practice.
• Self-motivated and able to manage their workload as well as that of junior team members.
• Adept at planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines and budget constraints.
• Collaborates proactively within multidisciplinary project teams while contributing to process enhancements.
• Possesses strong communication and listening skills, and can draft responses to straightforward inquiries.
• Demonstrates resilience, initiative, and a positive outlook when facing challenges.
• Regularly oversees junior staff.
• Creates an environment where team members can make informed decisions by clarifying roles, responsibilities, and providing necessary support.
• Actively listens to diverse opinions and balances perspectives using impartial judgment and common sense.

• Can undertake roles such as an L&D Coordinator, Early Career Mentor, or Digital Champion within their discipline.
• Shows an understanding of people management principles and associated challenges.

• Provides clear and concise instructions to less experienced team members.
• Recognizes and understands changes to contractual agreements as they arise.
• Holds relevant professional qualifications or is making significant progress toward them, such as CEng, RIBA, CEnv, P.Eng, P.E., or APM.
