Senior Backend Java Developer (Microservices)

Position Overview

We are on the lookout for a skilled Senior Backend Java Developer who has a strong emphasis on microservices architecture, distributed systems, and backend development. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and scaling microservices-based RESTful APIs and enterprise-level backend components. Your primary focus will include service communication, asynchronous messaging, optimizing interactions with databases, and promoting effective microservice design principles throughout the technology stack.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable microservices and distributed backend services utilizing Java and the Spring / Spring Boot framework.
• Apply clean microservice architectural patterns, domain-driven design, and create reusable software components.
• Create comprehensive OpenAPI/Swagger documentation for REST endpoints and inter-service agreements.
• Utilize Java concurrency utilities and asynchronous messaging to maximize application performance.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve memory leaks, thread contention, and garbage collection issues within containerized environments.
• Design and refine relational and NoSQL database schemas optimized for loosely-coupled microservices.
• Oversee data persistence and transactional boundaries across distributed services employing Spring Data JPA.
• Craft optimized SQL queries, establish efficient database indexing, and implement caching strategies (e.g., Redis).
• Adopt robust microservice resiliency patterns such as Circuit Breakers, Rate Limiting, and Retry mechanisms.
• Integrate standard API and service security protocols (OAuth2, JWT authentication, authorization, and data sanitization).
• Implement structured logging, health checks, and application metrics using standard logging frameworks.
• Develop clean, maintainable, modular, and unit-tested microservice code utilizing JUnit and Mockito.
• Engage in code reviews, technical architecture assessments, and ensure test coverage across application modules.

Requirements

• 5+ years of practical software development experience with Java, including in-depth knowledge of Collections, Streams API, Multithreading/Concurrency, and Exception Handling.
• Extensive expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring MVC, and dependency injection methodologies.
• Thorough understanding of microservices architecture, principles of distributed systems design, and RESTful architectural styles.
• High level of proficiency in Spring Data JPA, raw SQL query optimization, and database migration tools.
• Hands-on experience with message brokers and event streaming architectures.
• Strong foundation in Design Patterns, TDD/unit testing principles (JUnit, Mockito), basics of containerization, and CI/CD deployment processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with service mesh technologies and cloud-native observability tools.
• Experience with major cloud platforms and managed container orchestration services.
• Knowledge of caching layers, distributed synchronization, and event-driven architectures.
