SCRUM MASTER

Position Overview:

• The Senior Scrum Master is tasked with guaranteeing the effective application of Agile principles and methodologies within the web development team, facilitating seamless collaboration and the efficient launch of corporate platforms such as uefa.com, WePlayStrong, PlayMakers, and UC3. This role is pivotal in orchestrating Agile ceremonies, eliminating barriers, and nurturing an environment of ongoing enhancement. Due to the high-stakes nature of managing a global website that attracts millions of users, the Scrum Master must exhibit exceptional organizational skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to adapt to rapidly shifting priorities.

Primary Responsibilities

Agile Facilitation & Team Support

• Ensures the thorough implementation of Scrum and Agile best practices within the team.
• Facilitates key Agile ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Collaborates closely with the Product Owner to manage and optimize the backlog, ensuring team alignment with project objectives.
• Promotes self-organization within the development team to enhance efficiency and autonomy.

Delivery & Performance Optimization

• Monitors velocity and other Agile metrics to evaluate team performance and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
• Identifies and resolves impediments to guarantee smooth sprint execution.
• Ensures adherence to deadlines while upholding quality standards, particularly under high-pressure, event-driven circumstances.
• Assists the team in adjusting to changing priorities, especially during major sports events that necessitate real-time modifications.

Collaboration & Communication

• Aligns the development process with the overarching strategy of UEFA Digital, working closely with Product Owners, UX Designers, Developers, and Business Stakeholders.
• Proficient English communication skills are essential, allowing the Scrum Master to facilitate discussions with international teams.
• Continuous Improvement & Agile Coaching
• Encourages a culture of continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and recommending process enhancements.
• Promotes the adoption of Agile mindsets throughout the organization, providing coaching on Agile principles as needed.
• Leads retrospectives that yield actionable insights and measurable advancements. Travel & Face-to-Face Collaboration
• Due to the distributed nature of the team, the Scrum Master should be prepared to travel every three months for 2-3 days for in-person team meetings and planning sessions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5-7+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master within software development teams, preferably in high-traffic digital environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum) supported by certifications such as PSM, CSM, or equivalent.
• Experience with sports-related or event-driven projects, where managing tight deadlines and unexpected changes is crucial.
• Strong interpersonal skills: communication, conflict resolution, and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to drive efficiency and ensure delivery without micromanagement.
• Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, and similar Agile tools.
• Fluency in English (C1/C2 level) to effectively manage communications with international teams.
• Experience working with distributed and remote teams.
