Product Performance Engineer

Position Overview

The Technology Development division is composed of a variety of innovative and highly skilled engineering professionals. Our team excels in their respective fields, ensuring that Dyson products remain at the forefront of technological advancements. This division includes specialized groups across various disciplines such as Product Performance, Acoustics, Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, and Materials. This specific position is located within the Product Performance group, which focuses on the technical analysis of hair appliance performance, including quantifying and enhancing the effectiveness of products in drying and styling hair.

• Determine essential performance factors, design and conduct experiments, and utilize modeling tools (such as scripting, Excel, Minitab) to create, evaluate, and refine predictive models.
• Create effective testing strategies and methodologies that mirror real customer experiences, ensuring that performance objectives are achieved.
• Analyze experimental and analytical data to deliver technically sound recommendations, including suggesting design improvements and optimizations.
• Develop clear problem statements, assess and communicate risks, and provide well-rounded recommendations on complex system interactions.
• Collaborate seamlessly within project teams, effectively communicate results to stakeholders, and maintain comprehensive documentation for future reference.
• Mentor, influence, and assist junior team members while promoting a strong work ethic and logical problem-solving approach.
• Identify opportunities for enhancement by challenging existing processes, developing new tools or methodologies, and driving improvements in performance and reliability.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline, with ideally 2+ years of experience in product design and development (less experience will be considered for outstanding candidates).
• Solid grounding in engineering principles, measurement techniques, and statistical analysis; proficiency with Minitab, MATLAB, Excel, or similar software.
• Experience with CAD/CAE applications and knowledge of statistical modeling (e.g., multiple regression) is preferred.
• Proven strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, as well as mentor junior engineers.
• Adept at articulating ideas clearly to various audiences and capable of persuading and influencing within project teams.
• Proficient in collaborating and managing interactions with a diverse range of internal stakeholders.
