Legal Counsel – Retail

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel with 3-6 years of expertise to enhance our Retail team in Southeast Asia (SEA). The Legal Counsel will play a crucial role in offering legal guidance and support to our Retail operations while ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver legal guidance and assistance to the Retail sector within SEA
• Draft, assess, and negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, vendors, and various third parties
• Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, including those related to consumer protection, data privacy, and advertising
• Oversee legal disputes and litigation, collaborating with external counsel when required
• Keep informed of updates in local laws and regulations that could affect the Retail business
• Provide legal training and support to the Retail team regarding legal and compliance matters

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Law degree
• Admitted to the Bar in Southeast Asia
• 3-6 years of experience in a law firm or an in-house legal department, specializing in Retail
• Thorough knowledge of local laws and regulations in SEA, especially concerning Retail
• Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities
• Keen attention to detail with an aptitude for identifying legal risks
• Proficiency in English and at least one local language
