Laboratory Technical Associate

Job Overview

Become a key member of a vibrant laboratory team where you'll assist in essential testing preparations and play a crucial role in quality assurance efforts. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in a high-energy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare essential materials for laboratory testing, such as saline solutions, culture media, reagents, and disinfectants. Clean glassware or reusable items either manually or with a washer, and sterilize lab equipment and biohazardous waste following established protocols. Organize supplies into storage areas and oversee inventory management, including the packing and retrieval of items from cold storage. Aid in retrieving specimens or culture plates for further processing as directed by laboratory staff. Assist with the receipt and verification of stock items and address biological or chemical spills. Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure they operate effectively. Manage phone inquiries and direct them appropriately. Comply with requirements set by licensing, regulatory, and accrediting bodies. Engage in quality assurance and control programs, contributing to process improvement initiatives within the department. Assist with various operational and administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Higher NITEC/Diploma/A Level or equivalent. Relevant experience in a clinical laboratory environment is a plus. Strong technical skills in laboratory operations. Ability to perform tasks that may require moderate lifting, bending, and prolonged standing. Demonstrated capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team within a fast-paced setting. Effective prioritization and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
