Risk & Performance Manager (Investment Risk) - Contract

Join the Chief Investment Office of a reputable financial institution as an Investment Risk & Performance Manager. This contract role centers on investment risk monitoring, governance, and oversight of investment risk frameworks, with the objective of ensuring all investment mandates remain aligned to the defined risk targets.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Risk Monitoring

• Track compliance with client restrictions and investment risk frameworks, covering watchlist monitoring, concentration risk, liquidity risk and portfolio turnover.
• Escalate significant risk observations and propose enhancements to the risk framework through relevant governance forums.
• Manage investment risk rule implementation within Aladdin and Bloomberg AIM, ensuring rules are correctly coded, tested, approved and properly maintained with documentation.

Process & Governance

• Maintain and refresh Risk & Performance process documentation to ensure clear end-to-end workflows and accountability.
• Lead initiatives to improve and automate monitoring activities within Aladdin and Bloomberg AIM.
• Partner with technology teams and stakeholders to design solutions that are scalable and sustainable.
• Coordinate with investment, operations and risk teams to strengthen governance and enhance risk frameworks and reporting processes.
• Present risk monitoring results and framework improvements clearly and confidently to senior leadership.

ESG Risk

• Monitor adherence to ESG obligations, including watchlists, exclusion requirements and climate scenario testing.
• Assist with the rollout of ESG-related improvements to policy, processes and systems.
• Coordinate ESG-related deliverables with both internal and external stakeholders.

Performance & Analytics

• Deliver portfolio analysis insights, including performance attribution support.
• Assist independent performance evaluations for portfolio managers and research analysts.
• Strengthen performance analytics capabilities using Aladdin, including benchmark/index maintenance, report structuring and updates to stress scenarios.

Requirements

• University degree in Finance or a quantitative discipline. CFA, FRM or ESG certification would be advantageous.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of discretionary portfolio management (DPM), investment guidelines and risk controls.
• Strong analytical and systems proficiency, including experience converting investment guidelines into coded risk rules and automating monitoring processes.
• Exposure to Aladdin and Bloomberg AIM is preferred.
• Effective communicator capable of constructively challenging positions, applying sound judgement, and engaging senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Team-oriented, proactive, and able to demonstrate strong integrity with a genuine risk-focused mindset.
