Test Lead

Job Summary

This hybrid position is for a seasoned Test Lead with 10 to 12 years of experience delivering quality assurance in complex embedded environments. The role focuses on Windows XP Embedded automation using Python and Robot Framework, along with Embedded C validation. The Test Lead will lead end-to-end test planning and execution to ensure high-quality delivery for research and clinical products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while primarily working a day shift. There are no travel requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive test strategies for embedded solutions based on Windows XP Embedded, ensuring robust functionality, strong performance, and reliability across all targeted configurations and use cases.

Manage the planning and execution of manual and automated test cycles using Robot Framework and Python automation to produce consistent, repeatable validation results aligned with project milestones and quality benchmarks.

Provide technical direction on implementing test scripts in Python and Embedded C to validate firmware behavior, verify interface stability and error handling, and maintain full traceability from requirements to test cases.

Drive continuous improvements to the automation framework by expanding reusable Python libraries and Robot Framework resources to streamline test development and reduce execution time for regression cycles.

Oversee defect management activities by reviewing failures with development and research teams, analyzing logs and traces from embedded systems, and ensuring timely defect resolution and retesting with clear documentation.

Partner with research and product teams across R&D, preclinical, and clinical domains to capture user scenarios, understand regulatory expectations, identify product risks, and convert these into meaningful test coverage and risk-based prioritization.

Maintain efficient hybrid work execution through secure remote access methods, clear communication in English, and structured reporting practices that keep all stakeholders informed during day shift operations.

Create detailed test reports and metrics covering coverage, defect trends, automation effectiveness, and release readiness to support informed decisions that protect user safety and strengthen societal trust in company products.

Support test environment setup and maintenance for embedded platforms by installing builds, configuring hardware and interfaces, and confirming that test setups reflect intended production conditions for accurate results.

Contribute to product and process quality by identifying opportunities to refine requirements, improve design testability, and enable early defect detection across the overall development lifecycle.

Mentor junior test engineers on applying structured test design techniques for embedded software, promoting consistent automation usage, adherence to clear documentation standards, and effective collaboration, without formal people management responsibilities.

Actively participate in cross-functional discussions to clarify issues, propose test optimizations, and agree on release criteria so that test insights directly support business goals and deliver positive outcomes for end users.

Promote systematic risk assessment in embedded testing by mapping potential failure modes to targeted test scenarios, reducing field issues and improving safety for clinical and preclinical applications.

Qualifications

Demonstrate strong hands-on experience testing solutions built on Windows XP Embedded, with a proven ability to validate system behavior under resource constraints and across peripheral interactions in complex environments.

Show advanced expertise in Robot Framework, including the design of modular test suites, keyword-driven scenarios, and reliable automation pipelines that integrate smoothly with continuous integration tools.

Apply expert-level Python and Python automation capabilities to create maintainable test scripts, utilities, and automation harnesses that support scalable regression testing and efficient analysis of test outputs.

Prove solid understanding of Embedded C concepts, including memory management, real-time constraints, and hardware abstraction, enabling test cases and automation to effectively validate embedded software behavior.

Bring domain knowledge of R&D as well as preclinical and clinical settings by recognizing safety considerations, data integrity needs, and validation expectations that influence test strategies and documentation.

Use excellent English reading, writing, and speaking skills to communicate requirements, defects, risks, and test results clearly with global stakeholders in a hybrid work environment.

Certifications Required

ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst or Certified Test Automation Engineer or equivalent certification in software testing and automation.
