Test Lead

This hybrid role is designed for an experienced Test Lead with 10 to 12 years of experience in complex embedded environments. The position focuses on Windows XP Embedded automation using Python and Robot Framework, along with Embedded C validation. The Test Lead will lead end-to-end test planning and execution to ensure high-quality delivery for research and clinical products, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Work will primarily be during the day shift, with no travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive test strategies for embedded solutions built on Windows XP Embedded, ensuring robust functionality, performance, and reliability across all targeted configurations and use cases.
• Oversee the planning and execution of manual and automated test cycles using Robot Framework and Python automation to produce predictable, repeatable validation results aligned with project milestones and quality benchmarks.
• Provide technical direction for implementing test scripts in Python and Embedded C to verify firmware behavior, interface stability, and error handling, while ensuring end-to-end traceability from requirements to test cases.
• Advance continuous improvement of the automation framework by expanding reusable Python libraries and Robot Framework resources that streamline test development and reduce execution time for regression cycles.
• Manage defect resolution activities by reviewing failures with development and research teams, analyzing logs and traces from embedded systems, and ensuring timely resolution and retesting with clear documentation.
• Partner with research and product teams across R&D, preclinical, and clinical domains to understand user scenarios, regulatory expectations, and product risks, then translate these inputs into meaningful test coverage and risk-based prioritization.
• Maintain efficient hybrid work execution through secure remote access practices, clear communication in English, and structured reporting that keeps all stakeholders informed throughout day shift operations.
• Create detailed test reports and metrics covering coverage, defect patterns, automation effectiveness, and readiness for release to support informed decisions that protect user safety and strengthen societal trust in company products.
• Support test environment setup and maintenance for embedded platforms by installing builds, configuring hardware and interfaces, and validating that test setups reflect intended production conditions to ensure accurate results.
• Improve product and process quality by identifying opportunities to refine requirements, enhance design testability, and enable early defect detection throughout the overall development lifecycle.
• Mentor junior test engineers in applying structured test design techniques for embedded software, promoting consistent use of automation, clear documentation standards, and effective collaboration, without formal people management responsibilities.
• Actively participate in cross-functional discussions to clarify issues, propose test optimizations, and align on release criteria, ensuring that test insights support business goals and deliver positive outcomes for end users.
• Promote systematic risk assessment in embedded testing by mapping potential failure modes to targeted test scenarios, reducing field issues and enhancing safety for clinical and preclinical applications.

• Qualifications
• Demonstrate strong hands-on experience testing solutions based on Windows XP Embedded, with a proven track record in validating system behavior, resource constraints, and peripheral interactions in complex environments.
• Exhibit advanced proficiency in Robot Framework, including designing modular test suites, keyword-driven scenarios, and resilient automation pipelines that integrate smoothly with continuous integration tools.
• Apply expert-level Python skills and Python automation capabilities to develop maintainable test scripts, utilities, and automation harnesses supporting scalable regression testing and efficient analysis of test outputs.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of Embedded C concepts, including memory management, real-time constraints, and hardware abstraction, enabling test cases and automation to validate embedded software behavior effectively.
• Bring domain awareness from R&D as well as preclinical and clinical environments by understanding safety considerations, data integrity needs, and validation expectations that inform test strategies and documentation.
• Use excellent English reading, writing, and speaking skills to communicate requirements, defects, risks, and test results clearly to global stakeholders in a hybrid work setting.
