We are collaborating with a prestigious international engineering and design consultancy to recruit a Technical Director, Mechanical for their operations in Singapore. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in promoting technical excellence, steering multidisciplinary project teams, and engaging closely with major clients on high-stakes engineering projects.

Job Description

• Deliver comprehensive technical leadership for mechanical engineering design in data centres, mission-critical facilities, and complex building projects.
• Direct the design and engineering of essential mechanical systems, encompassing HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, and related building services.
• Supervise projects throughout their design lifecycle, from initial concepts and feasibility assessments to detailed designs, construction support, and commissioning oversight.
• Ensure engineering solutions align with project specifications regarding reliability, redundancy, energy efficiency, operational performance, and relevant regulations.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor to clients, developers, contractors, and project stakeholders, delivering practical solutions to intricate engineering challenges.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to guarantee the seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and other building systems.
• Evaluate engineering designs, specifications, and technical submissions to uphold high standards of quality and compliance.
• Assist in business development efforts, including technical proposals, tender submissions, and client presentations.
• Mentor and support engineering teams, enhancing technical skills and improving overall project delivery standards.
• Identify opportunities to implement innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

The Successful Applicant

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 15 years of pertinent experience in mechanical building services design, preferably within an engineering consultancy setting.
• Extensive experience in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects, particularly in mechanical cooling systems and HVAC design.
• Thorough understanding of data centre design principles, including system resilience, redundancy, energy efficiency, and critical cooling needs.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, technically intricate engineering projects.
• Preferred qualifications include Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng/CPEng), or an equivalent professional designation.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to engage confidently with senior clients and offer strategic technical guidance.
• Commercially astute, with experience in supporting proposals, project planning, and business development.
