Software Developer

The primary responsibility involves defining, developing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining both new and existing software applications to meet business objectives in a key role. This encompasses writing, coding, unit testing, and analyzing software programs and applications.

The position requires researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. Additionally, this role includes mentoring, supporting, and guiding Junior Software Developers.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate closely with Technical Solutions and Business/System Analysts to conceptualize and develop (code) new software applications or enhance existing ones;
2. Work with System Analysts/Business Analysts to outline software requirements and evaluate the feasibility of designs within specified time and cost parameters;
3. Create documentation as required while ensuring compliance with the company's documentation standards;
4. Partner with the Application Development Manager to establish coding standards for use by other developers;
5. Guide the team in understanding technical architecture, system design, code reviews, and other related technical concepts;
6. Oversee application system testing (including Unit Testing, System Integration Testing, etc.) performed by developers, and conduct testing as necessary.

Duties

1. Coach junior team members to adhere to the compliance standards and best practices set forth by the company;
2. May lead the team in aspects related to other phases of the System Development Life Cycle that impact project performance, such as system analysis and design, testing, quality assurance, deployment, and implementation;
3. Enforce strict adherence to unit testing protocols and ensure that unit test reports are generated by each developer following the unit test script;
4. Collaborate with web, user interface (UI), and user experience (UX) designers to plan the visual and functional aspects of the final product, and play a key role in creating prototypes when necessary;
5. Investigate current and emerging technologies that can be applied to the systems/applications under development to remain relevant and modern;
6. Identify opportunities to enhance and optimize the applications being developed, encouraging code refactoring among the development team;
7. Coordinate with database and network designers (if applicable) to ensure seamless integration of applications with database and network configurations.
8. Monitor the progress of other software developers and provide quality assurance on all outputs.
9. Conduct unit testing and collaborate with project team members in software system integration.
10. Maintain adherence to standards compliance and best practices within the project and organization.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related IT field.

Experience

1. A minimum of five years of experience in software development within an application development environment.
2. Demonstrated capability in designing and developing large-scale, complex software applications.

Technical Skills

1. Proficient in at least one programming language such as JAVA, Microsoft .Net (C#, VB.Net, C++), JavaScript/JSON, and capable of mentoring junior teams to improve their software development skills;
2. Strong comprehension of object-oriented design principles and relational database design;
3. Able to work with both basic and complex requirements and specifications;
4. Excellent understanding of coding methodologies and best practices;
5. Effective communicator with non-technical staff and members of cross-functional teams;
6. Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies as needed;
7. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
8. Capable of conducting research on software-related issues and products;
