Senior Software Engineer B3

Job Summary

Sr Software Engineer B3 will design and deliver resilient Java microservices on AWS, leveraging Kafka to support high throughput data integration within a hybrid work model. This position requires end to end solution engineering—from technical design through production support—to ensure secure, scalable systems that enhance customer experiences and improve operational efficiency while meeting strategic enterprise objectives.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust Java microservices that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise engineering standards to support critical business applications and customer facing platforms.
• Architect and implement event driven solutions using Kafka to provide reliable asynchronous communication between distributed services and to support real time data streaming across complex ecosystems.
• Optimize AWS based application deployments by choosing appropriate services, configuring infrastructure as code, and tuning performance to deliver cost efficient, secure, and highly available environments.
• Partner with product owners, architects, and cross functional engineering teams in a hybrid work model to convert business requirements into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.
• Apply secure coding practices, API governance, and data protection mechanisms within microservices to ensure alignment with organizational security guidelines and industry regulations.
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex production incidents through root cause analysis across Kafka streams, microservices, and AWS components, and implement preventive improvements to strengthen system resilience.
• Advance continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines by configuring build, test, and deployment workflows that speed up release cycles while maintaining high code quality standards.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices for Java microservices, Kafka event streaming, and cloud native design patterns to increase team capability and technical maturity.
• Review system performance metrics and application logs to detect bottlenecks and apply targeted optimizations that improve response times, throughput, and resource utilization.
• Work with site reliability and operations teams to establish observability strategies, including logging, metrics, and alerts for Kafka topics and microservices to enable proactive monitoring.
• Support technical roadmaps by assessing emerging tools, frameworks, and AWS services that can improve platform reliability and deliver enhanced customer and business stakeholder experiences.
• Document architecture decisions, service contracts, data flows, and operational runbooks in clear, accessible formats to enable knowledge sharing and long term maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, backlog refinement, and technical discussions during day shifts to ensure solutions are practical, maintainable, and aligned with organizational goals without requiring travel.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate strong proficiency in Java and object oriented design, with the ability to build clean, modular, and testable microservices that reliably integrate within distributed systems.
• Apply expert level understanding of Kafka, including topic design, consumer group strategy, and message serialization, to implement high throughput, fault tolerant event streaming solutions.
• Use hands on experience with AWS services such as compute, storage, networking, and managed data solutions to design secure, scalable, and cost conscious cloud architectures.
• Possess solid knowledge of microservices principles, including service decomposition, resilience patterns, and interservice communication, to deliver loosely coupled and evolvable solutions.
• Show practical experience working with hybrid collaboration tools and agile methodologies to coordinate effectively with onsite and remote team members across projects.
• Demonstrate strong analytical problem solving and debugging skills to diagnose complex issues across code, infrastructure, and data flows, and to deliver timely, sustainable resolutions.
