Senior iOS Developer

About the Role

In the capacity of a Senior iOS Developer for the iRAKYAT NEXTGEN programme, your primary responsibility will be to design and deliver exceptional native iOS mobile banking solutions on the Backbase EBP platform tailored for both retail and business banking clients. You will connect iOS applications and customer experiences with the Backbase EBP Hub (Engine Room), collaborating within an agile delivery squad that includes Backbase engineers, EY advisory leads, front-end developers, QA engineers, and members of the Bank's IT teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality native iOS mobile applications utilizing Swift and Xcode, integrating seamlessly with the capabilities of the Backbase EBP Hub (Engine Room)

• Develop and enhance iOS customer journeys including retail banking, business banking, digital onboarding, and SuperApp features within the Backbase EBP iOS Mobile product suite

• Connect iOS applications with the Bank's backend systems of record through Backbase EBP microservices and APIs

• Implement BNM-mandated security measures in the mobile layer, such as device binding, kill switch, cooling-off period enforcement, and secure authentication processes via Backbase Identity

• Work closely with the Business Analyst, Product Owner, UI/UX Designer, Back-End Developers, and QA Engineers to analyze requirements and shape the product direction

• Produce clean, well-documented, maintainable, and production-ready code; uphold coding standards and perform peer code reviews

• Ensure all iOS solutions are thoroughly tested, accessible, extensible, maintainable, secure, and optimized for performance

• Participate in architectural discussions, review pull requests, and contribute to the enhancement of the team's git workflow and CI/CD processes

• Identify and document defects within the Backbase EBP iOS product suite; provide constructive feedback to Backbase R&D for platform enhancements

• Engage fully in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and release readiness reviews

• Assist with go-live cutover, UAT, and post-launch hypercare activities throughout R1-R4 releases

• Mentor junior iOS engineers, aid in the onboarding of new team members, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the cross-platform mobile guild

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in iOS mobile software engineering in a similar senior position

• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)

• Proficient in Swift and Xcode IDE; knowledge of Objective-C is a plus

• Proven experience in delivering published iOS applications independently

• Comfortable operating within a Scrum team employing Agile and lean methodologies

• Strong grasp of native iOS frameworks, mobile architecture patterns, and the Apple developer ecosystem

• Familiarity with TDD, unit testing, continuous integration (GitHub Enterprise or Jenkins), and CI/CD workflows

• Comprehensive understanding of mobile security standards and secure coding practices for iOS

• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to leading technical decisions and suggesting enhancements without requiring direction

• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English

Preferred / Advantageous

• Experience in developing mobile banking applications within a licensed financial institution

• Knowledge of BNM RMIT November 2025 mobile security requirements (device binding, kill switch, cooling-off period)

• Familiarity with Backbase iOS SDK and integration patterns with Backbase EBP Hub

• Previous experience delivering solutions in a regulated banking or fintech environment in Malaysia or Southeast Asia
