As an NI Test Engineer, you will have a distinct opportunity to take ownership and contribute across every stage of product testing. This role is supported by NI’s relaxed, stimulating environment and working in small teams—conditions that help fuel the engineering innovation behind many award-winning products.
Test Engineers also have the chance to develop and deploy Automated Test Platforms, bringing together Hardware and Software. These solutions support a high mix, low volume, high tech, and high quality manufacturing and testing operation.

Core Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with and engage a wide range of NI staff across R&D software and hardware organizations, as well as employees from other business groups, located in Austin, Texas, and Debrecen, Hungary
- Conduct research as needed to develop or improve your test solutions.
- Specify, design, test, and deploy automated test solutions for the manufacture of computer-based instruments
- Create and implement project plans, manage milestones, and complete required reviews to ensure test system readiness for product release.
- Integrate hardware and software to support manufacturing test for both existing and new products using both traditional and computer-based instruments.
- Apply programming skills to build test applications for desktop and industrial PC's
- Review and approve product specifications and customer user documentation for the product.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge throughout the company.
- B.S. in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or mechatronics engineering
- Strong understanding of computers and high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand are an advantage)
- Thorough understanding of the following concepts and principles:
- Sources of measurement error
- Appropriate selection of instrumentation
- Statistical analysis of data
- Software design and architecture
- Integration of hardware and software
- Passion for learning about and working with test industry technologies.
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Work effectively in a group development environment.
- Problem-solve effectively—identify technical issues, propose reasonable solutions, and enjoy problem-solving.
- Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently.
- Persistently drive tasks and projects through successful completion
- Take ownership of goals and project schedules
- Listen attentively and quickly understand fast-paced technical discussions.
- Rapidly learn applicable technology, systems, and products
- English Language Competency/effective communication skills
- Can clearly and concisely communicate in English so that the people you work with can understand you clearly, particularly in technical conversations.
