Primary Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the operational processes and daily coordination for weekly accelerated patching and urgent 3-day patching cases from start to finish.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of assigned accelerated patch cycles, from scope confirmation to readiness, testing, deployment, live verification, reconciliation, and closure.
- Manage cycle plans, RACI matrices, action logs, decision deadlines, approvals, dependencies, risks, and escalation statuses effectively.
- Facilitate patch readiness across various teams, including infrastructure, middleware, network, application, security, service recovery, and change management.
- Monitor patch scope, change request readiness, approved exceptions, deferments, exclusions, failed patches, rollback actions, and outstanding validation evidence.
- Coordinate cross-team transitions, escalations, and operational readiness throughout each patching cycle.
- Assist with scheduled overnight, weekend, and public holiday patching tasks, including bridge coordination and handover to responsible decision-makers.
- Establish and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs), control gates, cut-off times, escalation routes, duty coverage, and exception paths for regular and urgent patching processes.
- Organize process walkthroughs, readiness assessments, dress rehearsals, and transitions into business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
- Compile records for patch case closures and assist in preparing SLA, operational risk, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure that all necessary patching documentation, approvals, validations, and closure activities are finalized within stipulated timelines.
- Identify recurring issues related to processes, ownership, or operations, and communicate improvement needs to relevant tooling, data, and automation teams.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of patching processes, operational controls, and inter-team coordination.
- Maintain effective follow-up with stakeholders and ensure that outstanding actions and dependencies are resolved in a timely manner.
Essential Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in infrastructure operations, patch management, change coordination, service delivery, or technology process governance.
- Practical knowledge of Open Systems administration, including Windows, Linux/Unix, and server patching methods.
- Familiarity with middleware administration and patching for platforms such as WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Apache HTTPD, Tomcat, or similar technologies.
- Experience in coordinating production changes across infrastructure, middleware, and application teams.
- Understanding of change request (CRQ) processes, exception management, risk acceptance, rollback procedures, and post-patch validation.
- Proven experience managing patching tasks across multiple technology teams and coordinating comprehensive operational readiness.
- Strong grasp of patching governance, including scope management, approvals, deferments, exclusions, failed patches, and closure documentation.
- Willingness to support overnight, weekend, and public holiday activities when necessary due to patch windows.
- Excellent documentation, stakeholder engagement, issue triage, escalation, and coordination capabilities.
- Ability to handle multiple patching cycles, dependencies, and deadlines in a dynamic production environment.
- In-depth understanding of SOPs, RACI, control gates, escalation paths, and operational readiness.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a systematic approach to evidence tracking and closure.
- ITIL certification or equivalent service-management experience is preferred.
- Experience in large-scale enterprise infrastructure or financial services environments is a plus.
