Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Overview

We are in search of a committed and experienced Infrastructure Automation Engineer to become a vital part of our team. The ideal candidate will take charge of automating the lifecycle management of virtual machines (VMs), enhancing infrastructure operations, and facilitating application deployments. This position requires proficiency with various automation tools and technologies, including scripting languages and hypervisors, to guarantee a seamless and scalable infrastructure.

Department: Group Technology and Operations (T&O) champions the bank's efficiency, agility, and resilience through a strategic emphasis on productivity, quality & control, technology, talent development, and innovation. Within Group T&O, we oversee most of the Bank's operational processes and strive to exceed expectations for our business partners across multiple banking delivery channels.

Key Responsibilities

• Automate the lifecycle management of Virtual Machines (VMs) including creation, configuration, monitoring, scaling, and decommissioning, utilizing APIs and automation tools.
• Design and implement automation solutions for infrastructure that are both scalable and secure.
• Oversee and maintain operating systems to facilitate efficient VM and infrastructure operations.
• Establish and manage Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to automate the processes of application building, testing, and deployment.
• Create, configure, and maintain custom VM images tailored for various environments.
• Provide support for applications, troubleshooting issues related to infrastructure, VMs, and deployments.
• Utilize VMware or KVM hypervisors to manage virtualized environments, focusing on VM performance and resource allocation.
• Automate infrastructure operation processes using APIs and facilitate integrations with other systems.
• Develop and sustain scripts in Python or other scripting languages to automate various tasks.
• Collaborate on UI development initiatives, integrating frontend solutions with backend infrastructure systems.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient in Python, Django framework, and Javascript.
• Practical experience with Redis for caching and pub/sub messaging.
• Extensive experience in automating VM lifecycle management through APIs (creation, scaling, deletion, etc.).
• Expertise in Redhat Linux OS and infrastructure automation tools.
• Skilled in Jenkins CI/CD for streamlining application development and deployment workflows.
• Hands-on experience in constructing and maintaining virtual machine images.
• Experience in the management and optimization of VMware or KVM hypervisors.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar for automation tasks.
• Strong understanding of application support, including troubleshooting and resolving deployment challenges.
• Experience with API automation and integrating infrastructure tools.
• Familiarity with UI development and collaboration with development teams to create user-friendly interfaces.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
