Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager with deep expertise in Java, Hibernate, and the Cards & Payments domain. In this role, you will lead engineering teams, set and evolve technical architecture, and ensure the successful delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance payment applications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of enterprise applications built with Java and Hibernate.
2. Lead and shape technical architecture and design choices for scalable, dependable payment processing platforms.
3. Manage, mentor, and support engineering teams to drive timely delivery and uphold technical quality.
4. Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to convert business requirements into effective technical solutions.
5. Promote secure development practices, including encryption and protection of transaction integrity across payment systems.
6. Run code reviews, enforce coding standards, and develop reusable components.
7. Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and all related deployment activities.
8. Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to Cards & Payments.
9. Drive application performance enhancements, including database tuning and overall scalability improvements.
10. Manage production support activities, including incident management and root cause analysis.
11. Work closely with infrastructure, operations, risk, and compliance teams to maintain platform stability.
12. Track and improve application performance using logging, monitoring, and observability practices.
13. Mentor senior engineers on Java and Hibernate best practices and technical implementation.
14. Ensure engineering roadmaps match business objectives while continuously improving payment platform reliability.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong expertise in Java and Core Java.
• Hands-on experience with Hibernate and ORM frameworks.
• In-depth knowledge of the Cards & Payments domain.
• Understanding of payment processing, including card issuance, authorization, clearing, and settlement.
• Experience delivering and designing enterprise application architecture.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of secure coding, encryption, and transaction management.
• Experience with CI/CD, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and experience managing engineering teams.
• Experience handling production incidents and performing root cause analysis.

Preferred Skills

• Microservices architecture and distributed systems experience.
• Experience with payment gateway and external payment network integrations.
• Knowledge of application monitoring, logging, and observability.
• Experience working in regulated financial services environments.

Qualifications

• 12–16 years of overall IT experience.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage hybrid teams and deliver within a day-shift schedule.
