Data Engineer

Position Overview & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders (including research analysts, quantitative strategists, and end-users), as well as data engineers and data scientists, to design, implement, and support data solutions that enhance various functions throughout the data lifecycle, such as data onboarding and distribution.
• Engage in the design process of lifecycle data solutions, providing insights and validation to ensure alignment with both business objectives and operational requirements.
• Oversee daily operations related to lifecycle data solutions, including the compilation of metadata and the analysis of system performance data (e.g., data quality metrics, usage rates of data distribution services).
• Conduct data access control operations to guarantee that ingested and distributed data adheres to enterprise data governance standards and data handling protocols.
• Serve as the Center of Excellence for standard data lifecycle services, establishing best practices and designing process workflows to facilitate smooth operations and ensure compliance.
• Monitor, analyze, investigate, and address daily operational incidents while providing guidance to users.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement within the designated area of responsibility.
• Maintain and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure ongoing support and insight into existing and future data lifecycle requirements.

Required Skillset

• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in data management, data analytics, or data engineering, preferably within the investment and banking sectors.
• Strong understanding of the principles, key controls, and processes associated with data management, as well as data integration and distribution.
• Proficient in programming languages including Python, Java, and SQL.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and data virtualization technologies such as Denodo is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on operational excellence.
• Capable of designing and implementing solutions, as well as performing code reviews.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a variety of stakeholders.
• Adaptable and quick to learn, demonstrating agility in responding to change.
• A collaborative team player with robust analytical skills, enjoying complex problem-solving tasks.
• Experience with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) implementation methodologies and/or Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
