Backend Engineer

Overview

TEKsystems, a premier technology consulting firm, is dedicated to providing innovative solutions and outstanding service to our clients. We are seeking a Backend Engineer to become part of a high-performing engineering team within a global technology-oriented organization. This position is a hands-on role focused on production development, where you will take ownership of your services from architecture through deployment and live debugging, collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design and develop production-ready backend services that support sales enablement and product launch initiatives.
• Create and maintain data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, and aggregation that feed these systems.
• Establish evaluation frameworks to assess and enhance AI output quality both pre and post-release.
• Take charge of deployment and serve as the initial point of contact for troubleshooting production issues.
• Collaborate directly with business and technical stakeholders, acting as the primary technical liaison for your project.
• Promote performance optimization, automation, and robust test coverage (including unit and integration tests).

Essential Skills:

• Over 5 years of experience in designing and building commercial or enterprise-grade backend systems or components.
• Proficient programming skills; the role does not require a specific programming language.
• Hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• A solid understanding of concurrency, scalability, and fault-tolerant system design principles.
• Strong debugging, critical thinking, and communication abilities; confident in being the primary technical contact for non-engineering stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient programming skills in Python is an advantage.
• Practical experience in developing and deploying LLM-based products in a production environment (e.g., chatbots, agents, etc.).
• Experience in building agents on AWS Lambda or serverless architectures.
• Familiarity with Kafka or similar event streaming/dataflow systems.
• Experience in developing or utilizing AI evaluation frameworks or harnesses.
