Team Member

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and support Java-based microservices that reliably handle high-volume event streams on Kafka clusters to power core business capabilities.
• Build high-performance Kafka producers and consumers using dependable serialization approaches to preserve data consistency and integrity across distributed environments.
• Deliver resilient, event-driven processing pipelines using Kafka Streams or equivalent technologies to achieve scalable, near real-time outcomes for mission-critical systems.
• Tune Kafka topics, partitions, and consumer group configurations to enhance throughput, reduce latency, and improve fault tolerance for business transaction flows.
• Set up, deploy, and continuously monitor services on AWS, leveraging compute, storage, and networking features to maintain secure and dependable application hosting.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation scripts using AWS tooling to accelerate deployments and minimize manual configuration work.
• Establish and uphold observability standards—logging, metrics, and tracing—for Java and Kafka workloads to enable rapid troubleshooting and performance optimization.
• Partner with product, quality, and operations teams to refine requirements, coordinate release planning, and ensure secure, maintainable solutions are delivered on schedule.
• Apply secure development and data protection practices across Java applications, Kafka components, and AWS services to safeguard information and support regulatory compliance.
• Perform code reviews and provide actionable, constructive feedback to strengthen code quality, test coverage, and alignment with team engineering standards.
• Investigate and resolve complex production incidents spanning Java services, Kafka pipelines, and AWS infrastructure to restore service quickly and prevent repeat issues.
• Document system architecture, deployment processes, and operational support materials to improve knowledge sharing and reduce risk for critical platforms.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers in Kafka, AWS, and Java through hands-on examples and support for real project delivery tasks.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance development workflows, reduce technical debt, and keep engineering solutions aligned with organizational objectives.

Qualifications:

• Eight to twelve years of professional software development experience, with a strong emphasis on building backend or integration solutions in enterprise settings.
• Advanced proficiency in Java, including object-oriented design, collections, concurrency, and performance optimization for production-ready systems.
• Proven experience designing and operating Kafka-based solutions, including topic modeling, consumer group planning, and message retention strategy.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as compute, storage, networking, and monitoring for secure, scalable application hosting.
• Experience with testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and performance testing, to ensure reliability for Java and Kafka-based services.
• Practical experience with configuration management and build tools that enable repeatable deployments and consistent runtime environments.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, explain design decisions, and coordinate delivery activities.
• Familiarity with secure development practices and cloud security concepts to reduce vulnerabilities across application and platform layers.
• Ability to quickly learn new tools, frameworks, and patterns within the Java, Kafka, and AWS ecosystem while staying focused on business outcomes and user value.
• Preferred experience with event-driven architectures, microservices patterns, and distributed system design in large-scale or global organizations.
