Job Description

Position Overview

This position entails managing the month-end closing process for a designated group of Singapore entities, serving as the controller for a portfolio of smaller firms, and assisting with year-end audit procedures. You will be responsible for ongoing reporting and compliance tasks, resolving outstanding items, and collaborating with cross-departmental teams to address inquiries related to the assigned entities.

Primary Duties

  • Manage the month-end closure for an assigned group of Singapore entities: prepare and post journal entries, finalize balance sheet reconciliations, conduct flux and variance analyses, and resolve open items in accordance with the Group closing schedule
  • Oversee regular reporting and compliance obligations, which include incentive and rebate accounting, GST-related schedules, cash and fund requirement reporting, investment tracking, as well as statutory and governmental survey submissions
  • Serve as the controller for a small portfolio of entities, taking full accountability for the trial balance, intercompany transactions, statutory financial statements, audit materials, tax pack contributions, and the director approval process for each
  • Examine and resolve aging and unreconciled items — such as unidentified receipts, outgoing fund transactions, and discrepancies in clearing accounts — and document approaches to prevent their recurrence
  • Assist with the year-end audit for the assigned operational entities: prepare necessary schedules, respond to auditor inquiries, and help address any accounting issues identified during the review
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, FinOps, and country finance teams to address queries regarding the assigned entities and effectively communicate financial movements to non-accounting stakeholders
  • Document the processes you manage and identify which steps can be standardized, automated, or transitioned to the Shared Service Centre

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or Finance, or a professional qualification (CA Singapore, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • 3–6 years of pertinent experience in financial accounting or controllership — from an audit firm, a shared service environment, or an internal finance team
  • Hands-on experience with the complete month-end close process, adhering to a fixed closing timeline
  • Capability to manage an entity comprehensively, from maintaining the trial balance to preparing a complete set of financial statements and the supporting audit documentation
  • Familiarity with IFRS / SFRS(I) and Singapore GST regulations, with the ability to apply them to everyday transactions
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets, along with proficiency in handling high-volume transactional data and system-generated trial balances
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously across multiple entities and stakeholders with minimal oversight, and to articulate issues clearly in writing
