Network & Security Engineer – Firewall, Routing & Switching

About the Role

We’re seeking a Network & Security Engineer to install, configure, troubleshoot, and support enterprise IT infrastructure at customer locations—on-site and remotely. The role focuses primarily on networking and security solutions, while also supporting servers, storage, cloud connectivity, desktops, and data centre infrastructure. You will ensure services are delivered on time in line with SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure

1. Install, configure, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, and wireless controllers.
2. Manage VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, STP/RSTP/MSTP, static and dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and QoS.
3. Administer DHCP, DNS, and IP addressing, and support SD-WAN and VPN implementations.
4. Perform preventive maintenance and network performance optimization, and maintain network and rack documentation.

Network Security

5. Implement and support next-generation firewalls, IPS/IDS, and VPNs (SSL, IPsec, site-to-site, and remote).

6. Manage firewall policies, oversee firmware upgrades, perform security hardening, and conduct security health checks.

7. Support endpoint, email, and web security, including web filtering, MFA, NAC, and Zero Trust solutions.

8. Carry out log analysis, and support security incidents and audits.

Desktop & End-User Support (L1/L2)

9. Install and configure desktops, laptops, Windows OS, device drivers, Office 365, and Outlook.

10. Manage Active Directory users and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and system performance issues.

Documentation & Customer Handling

11. Maintain installation and service reports, PM reports, RCAs, network diagrams, asset inventory, configuration backups, and change records.

12. Interact with customers professionally, provide technical recommendations, and complete knowledge transfer after project delivery.

13. Coordinate with sales, presales, project teams, and OEM vendors. Follow SOPs and SLAs, and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

14. Support project execution, AMC, FMS, managed services, and resident engineer engagements as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. Diploma, BE/BTech, BSc or BCA in IT, Computer Science, Electronics or a related field.
2. 1–3 years of hands-on experience in networking and network security, preferably at a system integrator or IT services company.
3. Working knowledge of routing and switching, VLANs, VPNs and firewall configuration.
4. Hands-on with at least one firewall: Fortinet, Sophos, Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco or SonicWall.
5. L1/L2 desktop support and Active Directory experience.
6. Good communication and customer-handling skills.
7. Willing to travel to customer sites in and around Bengaluru.

Preferred

1. CCNA, Fortinet NSE, Sophos, Palo Alto or similar certifications.
2. Exposure to SD-WAN, wireless controllers (Aruba, Cisco, Ruckus), servers, storage or cloud.
3. Experience with AV/VC or unified communications.
