DevSecOps Engineer

Position Summary

As a member of the DevOps team, you will play a key role in developing, managing, and enhancing the infrastructure and deployment mechanisms that support swift, secure, and dependable software delivery.

Primary Duties

1. CI/CD Pipeline Development

• Engage in the design, implementation, and upkeep of CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment speed and system dependability.

2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Participate in IaC projects utilizing tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, or Ansible for efficient and consistent infrastructure provisioning and management.

3. Monitoring & Observability

• Collaborate with the DevOps/Infrastructure team to guarantee application and system observability through metrics, logs, and distributed tracing via tools like Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.

4. Platform Reliability Initiatives

• Contribute to platform reliability efforts, which include establishing monitoring and alerting systems, executing automated testing, and optimizing performance.

5. DevSecOps Practices

• Support the integration of DevSecOps principles, embedding security within CI/CD pipelines and ensuring compliance for both infrastructure and applications.

6. Automation & Scripting Development

• Create and maintain scripts and automation tools to enhance infrastructure provisioning, build processes, and application deployments.

7. Cloud & Environment Oversight

• Collaborate with cloud and hosting service providers to set up, configure, and manage application environments and deployment pipelines.

8. Resource Provisioning

• Provision and oversee infrastructure resources such as servers, virtual machines, containers, and associated services to assist development and operations teams.

9. Continuous Integration and Delivery Promotion

• Advocate for and implement best practices in continuous integration and delivery to enhance development workflows and deployment effectiveness.

Essential Skills

Education & Experience

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or relevant practical experience in a related domain.

DevOps & Cloud Knowledge

• A solid grasp of DevOps methodologies, Agile development practices, and cloud technologies, preferably AWS.

CI/CD Tools Experience

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines, particularly using platforms like GitLab CI/CD.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Proficiency

• Expertise in tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, or Ansible for automating infrastructure provisioning and management.

Containerization & Orchestration Skills

• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes for constructing, managing, and orchestrating containerized applications.

System Administration Capability

• Skilled in administering Linux and Windows systems, including patch management, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Web & Application Server Management

• Experience in managing and deploying applications on JBoss and Apache servers.

Middleware & Messaging Systems

• Familiarity with configuring and managing RabbitMQ or similar messaging platforms.

Cloud & Virtualization Acquaintance

• Understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and virtualization technologies like VMware.

Networking Fundamentals

• Strong knowledge of networking principles (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs, subnets) in relation to cloud and on-premises environments.

Programming & Scripting Skills

• Familiarity with backend technologies such as Java, along with scripting abilities (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.

Monitoring & Observability Expertise

• Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace) for metrics, logging, and tracing.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

• Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting capabilities across infrastructure, networks, and deployment pipelines.

Desirable Skills

Architecture & Design Experience

• Experience in designing infrastructure and automation solutions for complex, scalable applications.

Certifications

• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, etc.).

Collaboration Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with developers, testers, and operations teams.

Enterprise Experience

• Experience working within large software teams or enterprise IT environments.
