Data Centre Design & Infrastructure Strategy Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Design & Infrastructure Strategy Engineer to spearhead the planning, development, and enhancement of data centre facilities across multiple locations. The successful candidate will possess comprehensive technical knowledge in physical data centre infrastructure, network architecture, infrastructure efficiency, and strategic investment analysis.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establish and uphold standards for data centre infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, rack configurations, cabling, and physical setups.
• Perform detailed site evaluations, capacity forecasting, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
• Prepare financial projections, expansion strategies, budgets, and business cases to support data centre investments.
• Analyze and approve data centre and network architecture designs to ensure they meet scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency benchmarks.
• Collaborate with colocation providers, engineering consultants, infrastructure vendors, and other key stakeholders.
• Identify future infrastructure needs and lead modernization projects to enhance data centre capabilities.
• Oversee vendor selection processes, negotiate commercial terms, and manage contractual relationships.
• Present technical insights, investment proposals, and strategic infrastructure plans to executive leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 8 years of professional experience in Data Centre Design, Data Centre Engineering, Infrastructure Planning, or Infrastructure Strategy roles.
• Extensive knowledge of UPS systems, PDU, power distribution, cooling solutions, containment strategies, racks, and structured cabling systems.
• Solid understanding of Spine-Leaf and Pod-based data centre network architectures.
• Proven expertise in capacity planning, budgeting, cost management, and developing compelling business cases.
• Experience in vendor management, stakeholder engagement, and commercial negotiations is essential.
• Background in enterprise data centres or financial services infrastructure is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier Standards and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools is advantageous.

Certifications

• Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or an equivalent certification in data centre infrastructure.
