Role Overview

We are looking for a Cloud FinOps Lead to initiate, manage, and enhance our Azure cloud financial management framework. This position transcends traditional billing reports; you will engage with cloud engineering, architecture, finance, procurement, and business stakeholders to foster cost transparency, accountability, and architectural enhancements.

Your role will involve integrating financial controls from Day 0 solution design through Day 2 operations—ensuring that our cloud expenditures deliver optimal business value while maintaining security, resilience, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• FinOps Governance & Operating Model: Develop the Azure FinOps framework, establish cost allocation standards (Management Groups, Subscriptions, Tags), and implement showback/chargeback models across various business units.
• Cost Optimisation & Backlog: Lead the remediation of idle or oversized resources utilizing Microsoft Cost Management and Azure Advisor; manage Reservations, Savings Plans, and Azure Hybrid Benefit (AHB).
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Variance Analysis: Oversee annual Azure budgeting processes, create multi-year consumption forecasts, and conduct monthly budget versus actual analyses to clarify significant variances.
• Architecture & Migration Engagement: Collaborate with engineering teams during Day 0 solution design to provide cost modeling for IaaS, PaaS, Containers, and Serverless options; set cost baselines prior to migration launches.
• Reporting & Executive Dashboards: Create operational and executive dashboards leveraging Power BI / Excel to monitor FinOps KPIs, tagging compliance, and unallocated expenses.

Requirements & Key Qualifications

Must-Have Experience & Skills

• Azure Commercials & Tools: Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Cost Management, Azure Advisor, Azure Landing Zones, Subscriptions, Management Groups, and Azure Policy.
• Cost Reduction Techniques: Extensive experience with Azure Reservations, Savings Plans, SKU rightsizing, and scheduling of non-production resources.
• Financial Analytics: Strong capabilities in Excel financial modeling and Power BI (or similar) for dashboard analytics.
• Cloud & FinOps Experience: 5–8+ years in IT/cloud governance or technological operations, including 2–3+ years of direct public-cloud FinOps experience.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

• Analytics & Automation: Knowledge of Azure Resource Graph, KQL, PowerShell, or Python.
• DevOps & IaC: Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) and embedding cost controls within CI/CD workflows.
• Commercial Agreements & Certification: Experience with EA, MCA, or CSP commercial agreements; FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or Azure certifications.
