Video Editor

Job description

• The Video Editor will be responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product suitable for broadcasting
• The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, and special effects
• This is a key role in the post-production process and the editor s skill can determine the quality and delivery of the final product
• The editor will work closely with the director to achieve the desired end result

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Reviewing raw material to determine the shot list.
• Manipulating film and video footage using modern editing techniques.
• Maintaining continuity while moving shots according to scene value.
• Trimming footage and putting together the rough project.
• Inserting dialog, sound effects, music, graphics, and special effects.
• Ensuring the project follows a logical sequence.
• Consulting with the director and production team throughout the project.
• Creating the final cut for broadcasting.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a video editor with a strong portfolio.
• Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut, Avid Media Composer, Lightworks).
• Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio.
• Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation, and continuity.
• Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing.
• Creative mind and storytelling skills.
