Sr. Software Engineer B3

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust Java microservices that are scalable, maintainable, and consistent with enterprise engineering standards to power critical business applications and customer-facing platforms.
• Architect and implement event-driven solutions with Kafka to deliver reliable asynchronous communication between distributed services and enable real-time data streaming across complex ecosystems.
• Improve AWS-based application deployments by choosing suitable AWS services, configuring infrastructure as code, and tuning performance to deliver secure, cost-efficient, and highly available environments.
• Work closely with product owners, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams within a hybrid work model to translate business needs into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.
• Apply secure coding practices, API governance, and data protection mechanisms inside microservices to meet organizational security requirements and applicable industry regulations.
• Resolve complex production incidents through root cause analysis across Kafka streams, microservices, and AWS components, and implement preventative enhancements to strengthen overall system resilience.
• Own continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines by configuring build, test, and deployment workflows that speed up release cycles while preserving high code quality standards.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices for Java microservices, Kafka event streaming, and cloud-native design patterns to raise team capability and technical maturity.
• Review system performance metrics and application logs to uncover bottlenecks and apply targeted optimizations that improve response times, throughput, and resource utilization.
• Partner with site reliability and operations teams to define observability approaches, including logging, metrics, and alerts for Kafka topics and microservices to support proactive monitoring.
• Support technical roadmaps by assessing emerging tools, frameworks, and AWS services that can improve platform reliability and enhance experiences for customers and business stakeholders.
• Document architecture decisions, service contracts, data flows, and operational runbooks in clear, accessible formats to enable knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, backlog refinement, and technical discussions during day shifts to ensure solutions are feasible, maintainable, and aligned with organizational objectives—without requiring travel.

Qualifications

• Show strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented design, with the ability to create clean, modular, and testable microservices that integrate reliably in distributed systems.
• Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of Kafka, including topic design, consumer group strategy, and message serialization, to build high-throughput, fault-tolerant event streaming solutions.
• Use hands-on experience with AWS services—covering compute, storage, networking, and managed data solutions—to design secure, scalable, and cost-conscious cloud architectures.
• Possess solid knowledge of microservices concepts, including service decomposition, resilience patterns, and interservice communication, to deliver loosely coupled and evolvable systems.
• Provide practical experience working with hybrid collaboration tools and agile methodologies to coordinate effectively with both onsite and remote team members across projects.
• Bring strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and debug complex problems across code, infrastructure, and data flows, delivering timely and sustainable resolutions.
