Solution Architect

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture design for complex, multi-tiered systems—from requirements and solution planning to implementation and ongoing production support.
• Lead the modernization of traditional monolithic applications into modern, loosely coupled, microservices-based architectures.
• Architect highly available, resilient, and fault-tolerant solutions for customer-facing applications operating at bank scale.
• Design and provide technical direction for cloud-native applications and API-first solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards for performance, scalability, and compliance.
• Perform system and process analysis to uncover architectural gaps and identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve performance.
• Assess and recommend data storage approaches across RDBMS, NoSQL, and legacy or emerging database technologies.
• Serve as a technical liaison between engineering teams and non-technical/business stakeholders, communicating architectural trade-offs and decisions clearly.
• Ensure solutions meet banking-industry regulatory, security, and data-privacy requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOX, GLBA, and internal risk/compliance frameworks).
• Support architecture governance, participate in design reviews, and help define reusable patterns and standards across the GCC.
• Mentor engineers and junior architects in architectural best practices (Principal level and above).

Required Qualifications

• 12–15 years of experience in web/software development, with increasing responsibility in solution delivery and/or enterprise architecture.
• Demonstrated, hands-on experience delivering complex, multi-tiered software systems from start to finish.
• Strong foundation across multiple IT disciplines, with proven understanding of core architectural concepts and patterns (e.g., SOA, event-driven, microservices, domain-driven design).
• Experience conducting system and process analysis to guide architectural decisions.
• Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to lead technical discussions with both technical teams and non-technical/business stakeholders.
• Practical experience working with data and database management systems, covering both legacy and modern/emerging database technologies.
• Experience with RDBMS is required; hands-on experience with NoSQL is required.
• Proven experience designing and building highly available, customer-facing applications within a global delivery/shared-services (GCC) model.
• Experience designing and building cloud-native applications and RESTful/GraphQL APIs.
• Demonstrated experience designing highly available, resilient architectures, including automation and performance-optimization initiatives.
• Proven experience transforming monolithic architectures into modern, decoupled microservices-based systems.
• Experience working in at least two to three of the following domains: Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, Application Development, Database Technologies, or Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent); equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Desired / Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the banking or financial services domain, including understanding consumer and custodial banking operations and experience handling sensitive financial data.
• Strength in business analysis, crafting solutions, stakeholder management, and executive-level presentation.
• Background in cybersecurity architecture or secure-by-design principles.
• Working knowledge of multiple programming languages and at least one modern front-end framework (Angular, React, or Vue), including technologies such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Golang, C, or C++.
• Exposure to UI/UX design, including familiarity with web/application branding and design-system practices.
• Cloud architecture certification(s)—AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
• Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) or equivalent certification.
• Experience delivering in Agile/SAFe environments with distributed global teams across multiple time zones.
