In the role of Senior Data Engineer, your primary objective will be to empower data scientists, analysts, and software engineers by providing robust infrastructure and tools necessary for delivering comprehensive solutions to business challenges. You will engage with data ranging from terabytes to petabytes within a sophisticated data ecosystem that supports multiple products and data stakeholders across the US, Kuala Lumpur, and Armenia. 

Your responsibilities will include the design and implementation of an analytical framework using both in-house and third-party tools, employing Python and/or Java to automate data processes and facilitate the efficient handling of increasingly complex data sets. 

You will also be tasked with constructing and executing complex data pipelines and models tailored for analytical usage. 

Your toolkit will include Redshift, Snowflake, EMR, Kubernetes, Airflow, among others. You will author scalable and efficient SQL queries to process billions of data rows, streamlining these processes to enhance the extraction of insights. 

A deep understanding and extensive experience in designing and managing large datasets and pipelines to support business use cases are essential. You should be recognized as an expert in crafting, implementing, and maintaining solutions that are scalable, stable, and cost-effective. 

Core Responsibilities

• Design, implement, manage, and enhance the analytics platform
• Create data solutions utilizing diverse big data technologies and low-latency architectures
• Collaborate with data scientists, business analysts, product managers, software engineers, and fellow data engineers to develop, implement, and validate data solutions
• Ensure the data warehouse is maintained with timely and high-quality data
• Construct and maintain data pipelines from internal databases and SaaS applications
• Implement and uphold data engineering best practices
• Enhance, manage, and instruct on standards for code maintainability and performance in submitted and reviewed code
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers

Required Qualifications

• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries
• Expertise in Python, Java, or comparable programming languages
• Understanding of data warehousing principles
• Experience with Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools
• Familiarity with the foundational concepts of distributed computing
• Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Delta Lake, or others
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and lead the delivery of complex solutions
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills—capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences and summarizing complex analyses in business-friendly language
• Aptitude for adapting to shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in ETL optimization, including designing, coding, and fine-tuning big data processes with Spark
• Knowledge of big data architecture frameworks like Lambda or Kappa
• Experience with streaming workflows for processing datasets with low latency
• Proficient in managing data quality, tracking lineage, and enhancing data discovery and consumption
• Strong understanding of distributed systems—capable of optimizing partitioning, distribution, and MPP of complex data structures
• Experience working with large databases, effectively handling billions of rows and intricate data modeling
• Familiarity with AWS is highly desirable
• Proven ability to plan daily tasks, prioritize effectively, and oversee execution
