Packaging Engineer (Based in Ipoh)

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to assess, identify, respond to, propose, and fulfill customer-specific packaging needs to sustain existing business and secure new opportunities.
• Provide comprehensive packaging engineering support across the facility to establish, revise, maintain, streamline, and implement packaging engineering standards, specifications, and modifications through accurate documentation and database updates.
• Source and evaluate packaging materials through precise documentation processes.
• Support packaging labeling initiatives by updating, maintaining, streamlining, and implementing changes in packaging labels through thorough documentation and database updates.
• Gather information from various sources—including sales and marketing, product engineering, miniPIP, or customers—to assess, identify, and define product packaging requirements.
• Review and respond to customer-specific packaging inquiries, ensuring compliance with industrial packaging specifications and environmental packaging regulations. Identify, qualify, introduce, obtain approval, and implement new packaging solutions that yield cost savings for customers.
• Engage with suppliers, purchasing, and tooling/engineering teams to source, qualify, and design new packaging materials through proper documentation of ECO and MCO processes.
• Create, update, maintain, and implement packaging information and changes through accurate documentation in Agile Packaging Matrix, Pack WI, and Label Pack WI.
• Collaborate with Product Engineers to ensure BOM accuracy concerning packaging materials. Identify, enhance, and streamline packaging processes to improve the robustness of the packaging line.
• Establish, update, and maintain packaging information in the Camstar database to facilitate automatic packaging label printing.
• Conduct peer reviews of shipping labels and manage the timing and implementation of packaging label cuts to execute FA shipments effectively, ensuring on-time delivery. Offer support for SNY packaging as needed.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor when required.
• Ensure adherence to safety, ESD, cleanroom, and housekeeping protocols.
• Promote continuous improvement and practice risk-based thinking in the planning and execution of tasks. Ensure compliance with ISO standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering, preferably with a focus on Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience managing quality-related matters involving incoming, in-process, and outgoing products.
• Proficient in computer skills with a foundational understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a hands-on approach to work.
• Ability to adapt and remain flexible to the rapidly changing business needs of the organization.
• Experience in high-mix, high-volume manufacturing environments, as well as assembly, SMT, or PCBA manufacturing settings, is advantageous.
• Familiarity with mechanical dimensioning & tolerancing analysis and poka-yoke principles is a plus.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is a desirable asset.
