Packaging Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to assess, identify, respond to, propose, and fulfill customer-specific packaging needs to sustain existing business and secure new opportunities.
• Provide comprehensive packaging engineering support across the plant to establish, update, maintain, streamline, and implement packaging engineering standards, specifications, and changes through accurate documentation and database management.
• Source and qualify packaging materials with thorough documentation processes.
• Support packaging labeling efforts to revise, maintain, streamline, and implement labeling changes through meticulous documentation and database updates.
• Gather information from various sources, including sales and marketing, product engineering, miniPIP, or customers, to assess, identify, and outline product packaging requirements.
• Review, respond to, and ensure compliance with customer-specific packaging inquiries, industrial packaging specifications, and environmental packaging compliance needs. Identify, qualify, introduce, and implement new packaging solutions for customers that deliver cost savings.
• Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing teams, and tooling/engineering to source, qualify, and design new packaging materials through proper documentation processes (ECO and MCO).
• Create, update, maintain, and implement packaging information and changes through accurate documentation in the Agile Packaging Matrix, Pack WI, and Label Pack WI.
• Work alongside Product Engineers to ensure the accuracy of BOM concerning packaging materials. Identify, enhance, and streamline packaging processes to improve the robustness of packaging line operations.
• Establish, update, and maintain packaging information within the Camstar database to facilitate automatic printing of packaging labels.
• Conduct peer reviews of shipping labels and oversee the timing and implementation of packaging labels to ensure effective execution of FA shipments and on-time delivery. Provide support for SNY packaging upon request.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisors as needed.
• Ensure adherence to safety, ESD, cleanroom, and housekeeping protocols.
• Drive continual improvement initiatives and apply risk-based thinking in task planning and execution. Comply with ISO requirements, company policies and regulations, and applicable codes.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering, preferably with a focus on Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in managing quality-related issues in incoming, in-process, and outgoing phases.
• Proficient in computer skills with a foundational understanding of SPC.
• Demonstrate strong analytical abilities coupled with a hands-on work ethic.
• Flexible and adaptable to the fast-paced changes in the company's business environment.
• Experience in high mix and high volume manufacturing settings, as well as assembly, SMT, or PCBA manufacturing environments, is advantageous.
• Knowledge of mechanical dimensioning and tolerancing analysis, along with poka-yoke principles, is a plus.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is considered a valuable asset.
