Junior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer

About the Position

Become a part of our SRE/DevOps team where we craft, implement, and oversee a secure and scalable infrastructure platform for deploying MoneyLion's applications. Our technology stack encompasses various levels, including Kubernetes, Terraform, Java Spring Boot, NodeJS, and Golang.

Your role will involve providing automated CI/CD tools that enable Product Development teams to independently launch their expanding range of products effectively, safely, and with remarkable speed. You will offer guidance across the entire organization—from Product Teams to QA and Cybersecurity—focusing on creating a resilient and robust system through load testing and Chaos Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop or provide tools that enable individual Product Teams to operate autonomously through a shared Kubernetes platform, Codefresh CI/CD, and self-service infrastructure resources via Atlantis/Terraform.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation supporting our production Kubernetes platform hosted on AWS.
• Continuously enhance our system's resilience by creating self-healing, self-assembling infrastructure; proactively conducting load tests and Chaos Engineering experiments.
• Investigate issues with a focus on immediate fixes as well as implementing long-term changes and automation to prevent future occurrences.
• Maintain daily awareness of security protocols while contributing to the overall security enhancement of the production system.
• Ensure that internal and external SLAs are consistently met or surpassed, and that system-centric KPIs are monitored and improved regularly.
• Provide consultation and support to Product Teams in achieving their OKRs related to Availability and Service Excellence.
• Manage daily operations: onboarding, offboarding, resource access permissions, and maintaining shared tools such as CI/CD and artifact repositories.
• Review architecture across teams to ensure best practices are disseminated throughout the organization.

About You:

• Experience with cloud IaaS (AWS, GCP, or other relevant platforms).
• Proficiency in Linux administration (CoreOS or general Linux).
• Familiarity with Linux containers, orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and Immutable infrastructure.
• Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code principles and technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Ability to learn rapidly, think critically, and make quick decisions based on data in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication skills and the capability to guide teams in troubleshooting and optimizing production performance issues.
• Comfortable with writing tools in Go or eager to learn for operational purposes.
• Working knowledge of industry best practices regarding information security.

Bonus Points:

• Previous experience in high-performance and highly available distributed systems.
• Knowledgeable in implementing performance and security measures in complex multi-team environments.
• Familiarity with microservices architectures and understanding the associated trade-offs.
• Practical experience with event streaming and designing systems that effectively utilize SQS, Kafka, or Kinesis.
• Solid understanding of the HashiCorp stack, particularly Vault.
