Frontier Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a senior technical leader, you design enterprise-scale AI systems that power Cognizant’s most demanding client transformations. You define human-agent capability matrices, create guardrail specifications, facilitate client architecture workshops, and take ownership of the intellectual architecture behind AI delivery at scale across domains, platforms, and industries. Spanning responsible-AI governance to regulated decisioning systems, the Distinguished Frontier Engineer sets the benchmark and leads, while also serving as the technical lead for cohorts of Frontier Engineers and Masters.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

· Design AI-native enterprise architectures and establish human-agent capability matrices for delivery programmes.

· Write guardrail specifications and boundary documentation for enterprise-scale agentic systems.

· Facilitate client architecture review workshops and deliver context-pipeline blueprints.

· Oversee ADLC adoption throughout the portfolio; set standards for AI-generated code quality.

· Architect responsible-AI frameworks, including bias detection, explainability, and audit-trail design.

· Design regulated AI decisioning systems with compliance controls aligned to relevant domains.

ENTRY AND GROWTH

Experience: 12-22 yrs with enterprise AI architecture leadership.

Entry: Demonstrate enterprise-scale AI architecture and responsible-AI leadership; pass the Frontier CoE assessment at Architect level.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Builds, ships and permanently owns AI-native systems end to end in a small Frontier pod, and is evaluated against the customer outcome the pod commits to—not technical throughput alone.
