Data Business Analyst (Banking)

Position Overview

Serve as the primary point of contact for data inquiries from business users within various banking sectors. Assist business users in pinpointing the appropriate data elements, datasets, and data products tailored to their specific use cases, while articulating data definitions, lineage, and applications in accessible language. Address data inquiries by collaborating across different data platforms, products, and source systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Assist business users in identifying suitable data elements, datasets, and data products relevant to their use cases
• Clarify data definitions, lineage, and applications using business-friendly terminology
• Resolve data-related inquiries by engaging with various data platforms, products, and source systems
• Gather, analyze, and document data-centric business requirements
• Convert business requirements into logical and physical data mappings, encompassing source systems, tables and columns, as well as data elements and attributes
• Collaborate closely with Group Technology and data engineering teams to ensure precise interpretation of requirements
• Develop and maintain definitions for business glossaries, data element descriptions, and domain-specific terminology
• Offer subject matter expert support for enterprise data platforms and data products (e.g., DWH, Data Lakes, Feature Stores)
• Support UAT planning and execution for data initiatives, ensuring data validation aligns with business expectations
• Proactively manage the intake and prioritization of data demand for assigned domains

Candidate Profile

• 5–7 years of experience in a Business Analyst or Data Business Analyst role
• Experience in banking or financial services is highly desirable
• Practical experience with enterprise data platforms or analytics environments
• Solid understanding of data concepts, including data models, datasets, and data lineage
• Proficient in SQL for basic data exploration and validation tasks
• Experience in aligning business requirements with systems, tables, and columns
• Familiarity with data platforms and tools such as Power BI, OAS, Denodo, Feature Stores, or similar tools is a plus
