Unix Engineer (System Engineer)

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the support of IT infrastructure on the Unix platform, including troubleshooting and conducting root cause analysis for server and application-related issues.
• Implement Unix/Linux packages and bug fixes across Test, PreProduction, and Production environments.
• Manage the daily operational tasks associated with Unix/Linux/Solaris/Red Hat/AIX/SUSE administration to fulfill business requirements and service level agreements.
• Comply with change management protocols for all change requests, overseeing operational changes through the change request process, and providing status updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Deliver 1st and 2nd level operational support for Unix/Linux/Solaris/Red Hat/AIX/SUSE systems.
• Conduct initial troubleshooting of third-party applications that support the infrastructure, ensuring timely follow-up with vendors until resolution.
• Due to the 24x7 nature of the environment, certain tasks may need to be performed outside of regular working hours (e.g., patching).

Qualifications:

• Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Unix/Linux/Solaris/Red Hat/AIX/SUSE administration within an enterprise-level setting.
• Strong knowledge and experience in Red Hat Clustering and Oracle Solaris Clustering.
• Proficient in scripting tools/languages such as Perl, Ruby, and AWK.
• Familiarity with SolarWinds and Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, etc., is a plus.
• Willingness to work in a 24x7 environment, including participation in patching activities.
