Solution Architect
Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to design, own, and drive end-to-end technical solutions for large, complex Application Development & Maintenance (ADM) and Application Managed Services (AMS) engagements within our Public Sector business. In this role, you will convert government agency requirements and business objectives into secure, scalable, and robust architecture spanning applications, integration, data, and cloud—and shepherd that architecture from design through build and delivery.
This position sits at the crossroads of client engagement and technical delivery. You will work closely with government stakeholders during solutioning and bid activities, and partner with Business Analysts, Project/Delivery Managers, and engineering teams to ensure the final implementation matches the intended design—delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to Singapore’s public sector technology standards.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Architecture
- Take ownership of end-to-end architecture design for large-scale ADM/AMS programmes, including application, integration, data, and infrastructure/cloud considerations as required.
- Convert client requirements, current IT landscape, and business objectives into clear, well-structured solution architectures and design artefacts (high-level and low-level design).
- Utilise relevant architecture frameworks, standards, and methodologies (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent) to ensure solutions remain consistent, scalable, and maintainable.
- Specify architecture components, reusable patterns, and technology choices that suit public sector constraints (security, data residency, compliance).
- Design for cloud-native and microservices-based architectures where applicable, considering major cloud platforms and, where relevant, Singapore Government cloud environments.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders, including government agency representatives, communicating complex technical concepts effectively during workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and presentations.
- Back pre-sales and bid activities by contributing to proposals, RFI/RFP responses, solution estimation, and technical win themes for Public Sector opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior client and internal stakeholders to ensure architecture decisions align with enterprise-wide strategy and delivery constraints.
- Establish strong working relationships with Business Analysts, Project/Delivery Managers, and cross-functional service line leads (Infrastructure, Security, Data & AI).
Delivery Collaboration & Governance
- Work with delivery teams across build, test, and deployment to ensure implementation follows the intended architecture.
- Provide technical direction and design assurance throughout the engagement lifecycle, addressing architecture-level risks and issues as they emerge.
- Support solution governance activities, including design reviews, architecture review boards, and quality assurance of technical deliverables.
- Help drive continuous improvement in solutioning practices, reusable frameworks, and architecture playbooks for the Public Sector portfolio.
What You Bring
- Significant experience (typically 10–15+ years) in IT solutioning and architecture, including substantial exposure in Solution Architect or equivalent technical leadership roles.
- Demonstrated capability in designing and delivering large-scale ADM/AMS solutions, ideally for—and/or in support of—Public Sector / government agency clients.
- Strong knowledge of the Singapore Public Sector technology landscape, or proven ability to build that understanding quickly (e.g., relevant government cloud/technology frameworks).
- Familiarity with microservices architecture, common application stacks (e.g., Java, .NET), data platforms, ERP, and major cloud platforms.
- Working knowledge of architecture frameworks and open standards (e.g., TOGAF) and industry-standard delivery methodologies (Agile and traditional).
- Experience supporting pre-sales, proposals, or bid responses is an advantage.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including confidence engaging with both technical teams and CXO-level audiences.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and to bring structure and clarity through rigorous technical thinking.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, cloud architecture certifications) are an advantage.
