Senior Motor Drives Engineer

About the position

Dyson presents an exceptional opportunity for skilled professionals to join its Research, Design and Development (RDD) team in Singapore as a Senior Motor Drives Engineer. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Electrical Machines Design, Modelling, and Simulation to contribute to innovative Motor Drives solutions for Dyson's next-generation technologies and products. You will collaborate within a larger project team, and your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting and delivering from the design phase through to industrialization.
• Translating requirements into precise deliverables for each project milestone.
• Designing, developing, documenting, and implementing motor control algorithms.
• Simulating and testing motor controls along with electromagnetic designs.
• Assisting in the design, commissioning, and troubleshooting of intricate production testers.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors for engineering design projects.

About you

• A degree in engineering or a related quantitative field, or comparable industry experience.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing motor control algorithms and the electromagnetic components of single-phase or three-phase motors;
• A broad understanding of various aspects of electrical machines, motor control, power electronics, and analog-digital sensing technologies.
• Proficiency in motor control simulation using MATLAB SIMULINK, SIMSCAPE, SPICE tools, and/or code generation tools such as embedded coder.
• Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of electrical machines.
• Statistical analysis skills for interpreting data from experiments and production test logs.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities to effectively connect with multiple functional teams.
• Capability to clearly communicate progress in meetings while producing high-quality documentation.
• Experience in planning, overcoming challenges, and advancing projects within an Agile framework.
