About The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Accounting Specialist to join our global finance team. This position ensures accurate and compliant accounting for complex revenue transactions, with emphasis on US GAAP (ASC 606) and Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS 115).
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Recognition & Contract Review
- Review complex, multi-element customer contracts that include software, services, and licensing components, and determine the appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606 and Ind AS 115.
- Use the five-step revenue recognition model for new and modified contracts, including identifying performance obligations, determining transaction price, and allocating consideration.
- Collaborate with Sales, Legal and Business Operations teams on deal structures and product offerings to support appropriate accounting and financial reporting outcomes. Technical Accounting & Policy
- Investigate and document conclusions on technical accounting topics, including business combinations, leases and impairment, under both US GAAP and Ind AS.
- Create and maintain technical accounting memos, policies and procedures to promote consistent application of accounting standards.
- Support statutory financial statement preparation and perform reconciliation of key accounting metrics between US GAAP and Ind AS.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations for deferred revenue, contract assets and contract liabilities.
- Work with internal and external auditors by providing supporting documentation and explanations related to revenue and complex accounting positions.
- Ensure strong internal controls and support compliance with SOX and ICFR requirements across revenue recognition and technical accounting processes.
- Education: Chartered Accountant (CA)
- Experience: 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably combining Big 4 public accounting and/or relevant industry exposure.
- Technical expertise: Hands-on knowledge of ASC 606, Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15, US GAAP and Ind AS.
- Systems: Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite
