Role Overview

We are looking for a senior SAP SD (Sales & Distribution) Consultant with strong FI/CO integration expertise to shape the functional architecture for an enterprise Order-to-Cash (OTC) Visibility Solution. The goal is to deliver end-to-end operational traceability—from the first sales contracts through delivery, billing, and financial settlement—so business users can trace incoming cash applications back to specific sales line items.

This role is discovery-led and analytics-focused. The consultant will reverse-engineer both legacy and modern SAP ERP configurations by studying system behavior, relevant database tables, and ABAP routines. You will connect core SAP transaction processing with modern enterprise data platforms, translating complex ERP configurations into data lineage models, KPI definitions, and technical requirements for BI and data engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End OTC Process Discovery & Reverse Engineering

• Identify and document the complete OTC execution sequence: Contract $rightarrow$ Sales Order $rightarrow$ Outbound Delivery $rightarrow$ Shipment $rightarrow$ Billing Document $rightarrow$ Accounting Document $rightarrow$ Payment / Clearing.
• Reverse-engineer legacy settings by analyzing data tables, transaction behaviors, and user exits across sales document types, item categories, schedule lines, and billing types.
• Examine logistics execution (LE-TRA) elements, including shipment documents (VT01N/VT02N), carrier/transporter assignments, shipment cost documents (VI01N), and financial settlement postings.
• Break down revenue account determination structures (VKOA), account keys, and pricing procedures to link SD commercial invoices with FI ledger entries.

2. Accounts Receivable (FI-AR) & Cash Clearing Logic

• Model open-item accounting structures and trace downstream postings to Customer Line Items (BSID / BSAD in ECC or ACDOCA in S/4HANA).
• Define data rules to connect payments to invoices under non-standard clearing scenarios:
• Full, partial, and residual clearings
• Unapplied cash and on-account postings
• Over-payments, under-payments, payment tolerance thresholds, and disputed deductions.
• Reverse-engineer electronic bank statements (EBS), lockbox processing, and payment advice structures to support automated invoice-matching analytics.

3. Data Product Enablement & Technical Translation

• Convert SAP operational data models into analytical models, including table joins, primary/foreign keys, document flow hierarchies through VBFA, and logical data dictionaries.
• Develop business calculation logic for core OTC KPIs (e.g., Days Sales Outstanding, Order-to-Cash Cycle Time, On-Time In-Full delivery rate, Cash Application Rate, Unapplied Cash Aging).
• Assess custom ABAP routines, user exits, BAdIs, and enhancement points to confirm custom pricing or posting behavior that affects reporting pipelines.
• Partner with data engineers, analytics architects, and business stakeholders to design ingestion models for analytics environments (e.g., SAP BW/4HANA, Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, or Databricks).

Required Experience & Qualifications

1. Core SAP SD Expertise (7+ Years)

• At least 8+ years of hands-on SAP SD experience focused on at least 2–3 full lifecycle implementations or lead-level support/enhancement engagements.
• Proven mastery of the standard OTC process: Quotations, Outline Agreements/Contracts, Sales Orders, Outbound Deliveries, Picking/Packing, and Invoicing.
• Strong technical configuration understanding of Copy Control, Item Category Determination, Document Flow (VBFA), and Pricing Procedures (Condition Technique).
• Solid experience with Logistics Execution / Transportation (LE-TRA), including shipment planning, tracking, freight cost calculation, and service agent integration.

2. FI/CO Integration & Cash Flow Mechanics

• Strong functional knowledge of the SD-FI interface: posting keys, revenue recognition, tax codes, and billing document account determination.
• Demonstrated understanding of Accounts Receivable (FI-AR): open vs. cleared item handling, credit limits, dispute management, and dunning processes.
• Functional experience with incoming cash capabilities: manual/automatic clearing rules, payment advice notes, tolerance groups, and bank ledger reconciliations.

3. SAP Data & Analytics Competencies

• Deep familiarity with the underlying SAP ERP table landscape:
• SD: VBAK, VBAP, LIKP, LIPS, VBRK, VBRP, VBFA, VTTK, VTTP, KONV/PRCD_ELEMENTS
• FI-AR: BKPF, BSEG, BSID, BSAD, KNA1, KNB1, and S/4HANA ACDOCA
• Hands-on ability to follow data relationships using transaction codes (SE16N, SE11, SQVI) to build data lineage for data engineering teams.
• Basic ABAP comprehension to troubleshoot routines, interpret formulas, and understand custom derivation logic.
• Awareness of enterprise reporting frameworks, such as SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Core Data Services (CDS) views, or external cloud data warehouses.

4. Operational & Delivery Capabilities

• Ability to work independently in exploratory, discovery-stage environments where specifications are not defined upfront.
• Strong written and visual communication skills, including process architecture diagrams, functional specification documents (FSDs), and data mapping sheets.
• High confidence collaborating within cross-functional matrix teams that include Finance Managers, Sales Operations Leads, Solution Architects, and Cloud Data Engineers.
